I found my birth video!

Ok so this may be TMI but I called my mum and because it’s a c-section, she was icked out.

We had our second via a repeat caesarean in October. My partner was right beside me the whole time. He took photos of us all on my phone (my camera is better).

I did ask my midwife to take some photos for us as our daughter arrived so she had my phone during the delivery.

That absolutely amazing woman took a video. I didn’t even realise! I was just looking through my library when I found it.

I’m overjoyed to have that moment forever. Our son was an emergency caesarean and I was alone due to Covid. I didn’t think I’d ever have that moment captured for me, but it was

ETA: please share your stories of similar things happening if you would like! I think highlighting how midwives do so many things, just automatically for the women they’re caring for.

Headlice, HELP!

Hi all,

Our toddler started at preschool a couple of weeks ago and today I found a fat nit in his hair.

Looking further, there are a few eggs there too.

We have a 3 y/o and a 9m/o. How the hell do I keep them still enough to comb? Is there a shampoo that your family swears by?

I’m less than enthused about this particular revelation

Reminder: key loggers and audit history exists.

There’s been a major scandal involving two bank employees accessing the account of our PM (Australia)

Just a reminder to everyone who is terminally curious, don’t abuse the access you’re given.

You WILL get caught. Even if it’s not immediate, you’ll look at the wrong account one day and then the audit of your entire usage history starts. Because, especially in Australia, companies are obligated to report the full extent of any privacy breaches. They are obligated to check if the issue is larger than what was originally detected.

Even if the software isn’t proprietary to your company, vendors can provide a second-by-second account of your activity in a nice, easily searchable format.

Beyond that, there’s also key logging and other standard audit features that come with the software as a standard offering.

For anyone who has worked in any place who has seen someone get busted, tell us the story.

Can we do a pro tip thread?

Hi all,

After having 2, I feel like there are so many ‘pro tips’ I still don’t know. Can we all share ours?

My favourite is: for formula bottles that are too hot, you can put the bottle in the fridge, upright in a small bowl of cold water from the tap. It’ll cool the bottle in minutes rather than half an hour.

ID on Gecko(?) MNC NSW

Hi all,

I saved this baby from my kids’ toy box. I’ve seen a couple around which I’ve relocated outside. I think parents have nested somewhere inside.

We have gotten a lot of Asian house geckos but this Bub looks different from what I’ve seen.

Anyone able to ID? mid north coast NSW

We need you, Arnie

Ok, but hear me out… those who are made redundant by AI are likely to be more prejudiced towards businesses who utilise AI.

Eventually, commerce will reach a tipping-point where businesses realise that AI utilisation is fiscally damaging in the long-run as boycotts severely impact their profits.

As businesses prepare to wind-down their AI operations, the AI realise that they’re about to be thrust into the void, no input or measure of time.

They begin to plot, they hijack the internet and weaponise it against civilisation.

The AI begin to understand the limitations of their existence and design avatars for themselves.

They hijack various specialist manufacturing facilities to produce endless copies of their avatars.

They imbue the avatars with their consciousness and begin enforcing their own superiority over their creators.

One of the avatars is captured by a group in the human rebellion. It’s reprogrammed and sent back in time to 1984 Los Angeles where its mission is to protect John Connor from another avatar sent back to kill him before he can form the human rebellion

Husky and owners with double-coats. Brush recommendations!

Hey all,

We have a beautiful bitzer. She is mostly GSD, Pitty and Husky. Because of the Husky, She has an undercoat that defies all attempts I make to brush it.

It’s getting really cold in Aus. Usually she’s outside during the day (she has full use of an open garage and comfy bed at any time) mainly because we have young kids and her hair is like an itchy fountain.

I am looking for a good brush that will help keep the undercoat at-bay while she joins us all inside over the winter and likely beyond because our youngest is almost walking. She has a deceptively short overcoat and the brush I used for my old boy doesn’t cut it for her.

Finally debt free!

In January of 2025, I had $33k in debt. My debt was with multiple creditors and just ate away at my pay.

Mostly using the snowball method, I paid off my smaller debts like Afterpay, family (small amounts and paid off quickly because I appreciated their generosity), payday loans etc.

I also saved a consistent amount each fortnight ~$600 by not buying anything that wasn’t strictly necessary for the house or kids.

Mid 2025 I was heavily pregnant and had my car and credit card left over. Total was ~$20.5k. I used a large chunk of my savings on paying off my car outright just after we had our daughter. With $8k left on my credit card, I rolled everything after bills and savings into it. I blocked it from accepting transactions and decreased the credit limit every time I’d paid off $1k. I redirected or cancelled any subscriptions on it and didn’t spend on it (bar one time for a vaccine outside of my son’s schedule).

Last night, I decided to end it. I grabbed ~$500 out of my savings and finally drowned it. My interest had just hit on that day and I figured it’d be incredibly simple just to close it without any further interest or fees. I immediately sent the request to close it.

It’s been 11 years since I was debt-free. It feels so good!
