How do you all survive war on Diety?

I'm legitimately curious, because I'm getting my ass kicked. It's just the sheer numbers of troops the AI can muster combined with the bonus to combat strength they get that feels insurmountable to me. At least in Antiquity, I feel like I can't go to war with anyone because I'll get swarmed. Defensive wars aren't too bad, but even those can get overwhelming if I have a town on my periphery that they just send an endless wave after wave of fodder that way.

Why do they insist on settling in the worst spot?

Twice now Xerx the Jerx has tried settling near the Great Barrier Reef, and twice he's chosen such an awful location to settle around it. Seriously dude, why not go a few spaces to the southeast so you can get all four tiles?? AND you'd get a nice little fake canal through that island! Funny enough, I conquered the initial town he tried to lay down there, only for his Independent would-be ally to steal it from me an burn it down to the ground. A few turns after we settled for peace, he brought his second terrible settlement to that island before my settler could take it. Now I guess I'll have to burn that one down too to get a better town there.

But why does the AI decide to have such stupid locations for their towns? It's like they just decide to plop one down anywhere without any rhyme or reason.

Is Heian a little broken?

This is my culture output with Heian at the end of Antiquity with Toyotomi. I'm getting +216 culture on the Jo-Bo System I. I know the update just came out, but is Heian the new strongest culture civ?

Natural wonders need a buff

I know there’s a lot of things we’re waiting on getting for future updates, but one thing I’m hoping to see is some changes with natural wonders. One thing I loved about Civ 6 was how the wonders not only gave you some good yields, but they also gave some extra ability that helped change your strategy around. In 7, you get those yields that give you a nice tempo in the early game, but unless you’re Isabella those yields become pretty obsolete in a hurry. I get that you can milk a little bit out of them by making Resort Towns and they can help your tourism in the end, but I’d just love to see something more interesting from the wonders. Just give more gravitas to them, more of a reason to settle them or even to go to war with other civs to claim them. Any thoughts?

Siam - the Revival??

Interesting side effect of the new ToT update: I set all the AI civ options to random, just to add in a little craziness to everything. As a result, Tecumseh chose Siam in Antiquity only to change to Shawnee in Exploration. In turn, Amina (who was obviously Greek in Antiquity and Ming in Exploration) decided to become Siam in the Modern Age. So did Amina hear about the wonders of the old Siamese and tried to emulate their society in Modernity? Or are they two completely separate civs that both happen to have the name Siam?

Only one homeland enemy??

After seeing the Triumph where you're at war with every Civ in the Homelands, I wanted to try a ToT Assyria game with Tubman, leading to a massive, no-holds-barred, no quarter slug fest with everyone in the game. Little did I know when I started the game that this Continents + Fractal Map only had Machiavelli with me. Oh well, at least I had enough of a fight taking him out, but now I'm sitting here for the rest of the era without anyone to goad into war. Ho Hum.

"And when Harriet Tubman saw the breadth of her domain, she wept, for there were no more civs to conquer."

Yet another broken combo after ToT?

Tecumseh + Tonga. Now that Tec starts with ALL independent powers friendly to him, that eliminates one of the only barriers to Tonga in Antiquity: that you can't heal your scouts in distant lands so they become easy targets for hostile powers. So now you can just freely fly around the world, befriending everyone (relatively) easily and watch your food, production, and combat strength skyrocket.

Come to think of it, maybe ToT has just broken Tecumseh in general?

Annoying Halicarnassus glitch...

R5: Tried to conquer the Incan capital. Unfortunately, they have Halicarnassus built from the Ancient Era. So when I defeated their lancer to claim the last district, the lancer respawned per the Mausoleum's rules...right in the district I had already defeated him in. Has this ever happened to anyone else? Not sure if it's a glitch or how it's supposed to happen, but super annoying!

Oh okay, yeah this one should be obvious.

This is most definitely somewhere outside of Alpha Centauri. I think. Wait, Mexico?? How the heck was I supposed to get that??

I love this Mississippi start

"Ah yes, dear Trung Trac. Please do try and assault my towns. Hope you don't find the water too..hot? Mwa ha ha ha!" Really it was her fault for trying to launch a war against me in the first place, she should have known better than to come up against the Burning Arrows across the Mississippi River.

R5: When you're trying to move a ship to a better attack position, but the game automatically places your route through the city center, turning it into an attack instead. Maddening. Or when you try to send your missionaries through a land you're at war with, but the path they're supposed to take goes through a city's walled districts. Does the game try to automatically create the next shortest route around the city? No. The missionaries are just going to sit there and pout until you give them a more complicated route. Maddening.

Any rumors that they're adding any new civs or leaders with the big update coming up? I know there are a lot of gameplay additions they're focusing on, but man am I ready for some new civs to try out too!
