Squier J Mascis Jazzmaster Review

For context, I’ve been playing guitar for around 14 years and would still consider myself a beginner-intermediate player. I’ve owned a wide range of guitars over those years.

My intention was to buy an Epiphone SG or a Schecter as I lean more towards metal than other genres, but the Squier J Mascis made everything feel cheap by comparison.

I’ve been recording some demos with it ever since and finally got to jam with it last night with a cranked amp, and man does it sound incredible. We played country, surf, pop, rock, and metal and it all sounded great. The tuning stability is great, the build quality is excellent, and the pickups sound really nice, although it’s easy to stray into Telecaster/Stratocaster territory with the tone knob wide open.

I cannot recommend it enough, for the money it’s gotta be the best deal out there. 5/5, I would buy 10 of these and paint them all different colors if I had the cash.

I haven’t owned a guitar for about 2 years now as I have experienced some financial difficulties and am primarily a bass player. I was looking for a Schecter or an Epiphone but of course landed on the J Mascis. This thing is so well built for the price, nothing else really compared.
