Noob at the piano, But proficient at FL Studio. How do I learn the piano?

Ok so some background:

I am a a music producer/beatmaker. I have a decade of experience with DAWs, the piano roll, and a variety of genres.

I can make sweet piano melodies and chord progressions on the software but not on the piano. I can barely play baa baa black sheep. Do know a bit of sheet music. Music theory bases are covered mostly.

My goal:

Learn the piano to play jazz or the blues, it soothes my mind like no other. Not very interested in classical music pieces but not averse to trying new things.

There isnt really a time limit or constraint for me to learn because I have all the time in the world for a while.

I need your advice folks, I really do.

My music sucks and its beginning to take a hit on me

I've been making beats since last august in 2025 but have been doing it consistently since about 3-4 months and I haven't made a single beat that I'm satisfied with yet and it kind of frustrates me. Everything I've been making recently has been sounding like a videogame soundtrack which is NOT the sound I'm going for. I want to make a more experimental/alternative rap sound (I know this beat isn't any of that but its my most recent beat that I'm at least a little proud of) At least this sounds okay but it doesn't sound like anything that's not straight from Wii sports or rocketleague. Idk I've had the fear that I'm just not made for music in general and that I should accept that and not do anything with it and stay unsatisfied.

Idk man, it's been frustrating and I'm kind of embarrassing myself when people ask me to hear my music since I'm already in the music industry just not releasing music. ANY tips / recommendations would help. Be honest and tell me if I should just straight up stop and focus on different things or just continue and follow the process. Sitting hours on end behind logic or fl just to make music that gets called RL music or Wii sports music is just way too demotivating so I need some real advice.

Might i add that everytime i make music it doesnt really have a real body. I just make whatever happens in the moment but i feel like that isn‘t really good and productive when in trying to actually MAKE music instead of creating it by accidents.

Thank you.

This Helped Me Make Unique Music As A Beginner

I've been producing for 7 months and I'm making this post to share the tip that helped me make better and more unique music. I don't need feedback, I'm sharing the clip just to show how the idea looks like in practice.

The tip: Use unconventional, rare sounds for your drums or tweak the samples you like to make them sound unrecognizable and add multiple layers. This will help you to make songs with more identity and It's pretty fun to do!

I just took another shot at a trance style trap beat but I don't know how well it works

2 of my fav artists are yachty and carti and I've always loved their trance/weird beats. I made this trying to imitate a sort of trance feel, but I feel like ive re-listened to it so many times I can't even tell if I think it works.

My main concern is that the chorus, drums, and lead are all doing separate things and I can't tell if they work together or just take away from one another. Can I have some help?

For reference, I really like the vibe of songs like Olympian, Wake up F1lthy, and WTFFF (I know I'm nowhere close, like I have an ego but I'm not delusional lol)

How’s the mix?

I made a post a few days ago showcasing this new track. For the most part it had positive feedback but I did listen to the criticism and worked on the mix and this is what I’ve currently got. I was just wondering how the mix is right now? Does anyone know what I need to adjust? I am new to this so I don’t have the best ear for mixing. Let me know what you think!

dotmel - melody inspiration platform

Hi all, for past few months I was working on a dotmel platform. It is a place for producers to find or share melodies in midi format with each other. Melodies are called "mels". The platform is imagined for music producers or composers to get inspired with new ideas. Feel free to check it out - dotmel.io
