New Set up! First jam on Rack Gear

Started building a rack and I had no idea think Id be so into it. Love this sht!!

Slightly different in this video but currently have a couple motu 828mk3s, a modded dbx 160a and a modded drawmer dl241 by revive audio. This isnt an ad but they sound soo good. you should look into them if modded gear is your thing.

The dbx 160a is on the kick drum from the jomox. Didnt have the drawmer installed yet but thats going to handle the main closed/open hats from now on.

The full vid is in the comments if you wanna check it out! Mostly wanted to share the rig so far and the new camera angles. If u have any questions lmk.

Thanks for listening

I suck at mixing vocals

As the title suggests, I’m currently struggling to mix vocals, specifically my vocals, to that clear, somewhat industry standard vocal. I’ve been working on this song for over a month because I can’t seem to get it right at various YouTube videos don’t seem to help. I’m also starting to think it may have been poor mic placement, but I’ve recorded multiple times and the raw vocals sound fine to me.

What I’ve noticed is that my vocals sound “roomy” or “boxy”. Especially after fx.

What am I doing wrong?

How to achieve a massive, "in-your-face" drum punch without ruining the low-end?

[Max\_Wasabi](https://youtu.be/exA83\_TvKtM?si=j5q5M\_bhSQoPnLxc)

When I listen to MAX’s song “Wasabi,” the drum sound — especially the kick and snare — feels very upfront, takes up a lot of space, and has this tight, punchy, and in-your-face quality to it.

I’ve tried a lot of different approaches to get that kind of drum sound, but I usually end up with drums where the sub frequencies of the kick just feel too "roomy" or "spacey," losing that tight punchiness. And when I try to make them hit harder, I eventually realize I’m just focusing too much on the high-end frequencies.

Of course, I understand that the original source sounds are extremely important. But I’m curious if there are ways to approach this from a mixing perspective, or through effects like saturation, compression, etc.

Also, when using mastering processing or compression, I sometimes feel like the low end gets thinner. How do you all add punch, tightness, and a massive sense of scale to the kick and the low-end area in general?

I'm beginner and this is my first beat, is it good or not? How can I improve?

I just don’t know where to begin for electropop production…

Hey guys, I’m a rookie who started to learn about producing. I want to be an independent artist. However, I’ve watched so many tutorials and I‘m still not in the place I want to be as a producer. I don’t know how to improve myself.

My main motive is producing hyperpop. kpop and electronic pop music like Charli xcx, FINNEAS, A.G. Cook, SOPHIE, FKA twigs, aespa, Ariana Grande etc. Because I think my country is still mostly sticking to traditional beats and rock music. So I want to improve in those genres to lead something entirely new for my country.

I had started from learning Ableton Live on Windows but despite watching too many tutorials the program was so complicated for me. Than I downloaded Bandlab to my IPad but I couldn’t get used to it. Hence, I just started to make a song on GarageBand but when I finished it it sounded more like a 2000ish style pop and lacked so many elements which is far from the style I wanted.

Were they any electropop producers who had shared the same experiences with me? How did you improve yourselve? I don’t have any instruments. I just have my GarageBand on my IPad. I just want this so bad but I don’t know where and how to start…

Starting over and really need some income. At this point, ill do almost anything

I moved from the us to west africa to work on productions as a producer/director. Due to a health issue and major surgery i returned back to the united states and just now fully mobile. I have to move out of the place i rented to get better and heal as my parents are late , im an only child and really have no one to help. Im not looking for a handout, just any opportunity to work and earn. I am hardworking, resilient and have a professional skills, just not sure who, where, to go to. Creative, strategy, structure and execution across productions, events, marketing, logistics. Since i was out of the county for almost a decade, getting into my field is very difficult as it typically gate kept. Im willing to work in pretty much any space, any sector to get my feet on the ground. i'm not even sure where id stay once this month runs out. Im able and willing to work, i just need that connection, opportunity, referral and support. I'd truly appreciate any assistance, recommendations etc that i can get.

Roland TR-6S

I have a tr6s and would like to take the stock sounds it comes with and get them in my computer for an easier workflow.

I recently got rid of my MPC one plus looking back that was the only way I could sample the Roland. My audio interface is a Scarlett solo 4 and it seems to only have outputs and one input. My DAW of choice is FL.

Is there anything that I need or don’t need to sample the Roland I have

How to record performances?

I am a standup and improv comedian. I usually perform in really poor lighting (such as pubs), with a handheld microphone amplified through a mixing desk into two speakers at the front of the stage that face the audience. I want to record these performances (both video and audio).

I have tried recording video on my Samsung Galaxy phone from the audience area. The audio (recorded by my phone after coming out of the speakers and travelling through the air, mixed with audience chatter) is completely unintelligible. I must have a better system of recording audio.

Also, the images are grainy. What I really want is a proper video camera that can handle low light conditions. But if a decent camera would be too expensive, I could learn to live with the poor images.

Do I need to buy an audio recording device that takes XLR/phono input and give it to the audio mixing operator before my performance? Do I wear a lapel mic and connect it to a recording device that I keep in my pocket? Do I buy a cheap video camera that is rated for low light?

Recording the audio/video separately and syncing them later is no problem. I know how to do that.

I'm happy to spend £500.

I built something after reading this community’s responses. Curious what you think

A few weeks ago I posted here asking how long it takes teams to create branded videos from events. I was not expecting much but the response was really eye opening. Almost everyone described the same pain. Hours of work, mismatched fonts and colors, people who are not designers being forced to do design work.
So I actually started building something to fix it. The idea is simple. You dump in your raw photos and video clips from an event and it automatically assembles a polished branded video for you. No templates to fill in. No editing. Just your real footage transformed automatically the same way your iPhone creates Memories from your camera roll.
I am genuinely curious whether people here think this is worth pursuing or whether I am solving a problem that is not actually that painful in practice.
Two honest questions:
Does this sound like something your team would actually use?
What would make you trust a tool like this enough to let it represent your brand automatically?
