LADC Edicion Especial w/SAK Cutter & Xikar Allume

LADC Edicion Especial w/SAK Cutter & Xikar Allume

Enjoying a LADC Edicion Especial this morning, but the show-off is my Wenger Swiss Army knife cutter. By no means does it give the cleanest or straightest cut versus other tools in my arsenal, but in terms of having it in my pocket ready to go anytime, it's a perfect trade-off. The Xikar Allume is also a wonderfully compact lighter for EDC.

Seiko 5 [SRPG37]

This watch is probably low man in terms of price, rarity or speciality in my collection, but it is hard to throw rocks at it! Classic, rugged, utility, and sharp!

Americano with Davidoff No. 2

We got a break from the heat this morning, so I decided to enjoy an iconic Davidoff No. 2 with a big quad-shot Americano on the patio.

First build...

I had been looking for a clean deep red dial Swiss diver for a while, but was having trouble finding a piece that fit my taste. I had also been thinking for quite a while about trying my hand at building a watch. So, I bought a tool kit, spent several hours online figuring out what components I would need, and placed orders on Tandorio and eBay. I went with this skin diver 200m sandblasted case w/high domed crystal, a deep red dot index dial, a SW220 movement, and bought a couple different sets of hands. The hands I initially wanted to use were big Tudor style snowflakes, but they seemed to overwhelm. I went with these simple wide blade hands instead. I am strapping it down with a Zuludiver rubber deployant.

First off, I was a little surprised at how much distortion I'm getting from the domed crystal. That vintage crystal curvature look is cool, but it might be a bit much with those big dot indices. Secondly, I'm questioning the hand/index combo. Anybody who has built their own or is a dive watch enthusiast otherwise, I'd love to get your thoughts.

Tag Heuer Carrera Calibre 5 Day/Date WAR201B

I bought this sucker with the brown croc strap, but I recently picked up an OEM bracelet on eBay. First workday trying it out, and I get a totally different vibe. When working on the computer, I tend to prefer a leather strap, but the Tag deployant clasp is kinda bulky anyway. This bracelet is thin and light. I'm sure I'll swap back eventually, but I am liking it for now!

Not a bad Memorial Day smoke...

The guy at my local cigar shop talked me into trying this Crowned Heads Thunderkiss. Not a bad smoke. Creamy, woody, with some spice. Also not a bad smoke... the pork shoulder and ribs on my Traeger. Staying hydrated with some whiskey lemonade.

No cigars in this post... travel humidor!

This is the best travel humidor setup I can imagine after trying several. I picked up a M50 Pelican Micro Case, added a 4-stick cedar tray from an old zip up "travel humidor" case which fit perfectly (the old leather travel humidor never could hold steady humidity anyway), and then cut a piece of protective foam to fit. Even dropped in a cedar sheet from an old box. Fits my Churchills, with space for a personal ashtray, lighter and cutter.
