Static ip

Hi,

When using static IP rather than CGNAT, does that mean that PPPoE needs to be used and not DHCP?

On City Fibre is DHCP with a static ip an option?

TheOnebroadband

Hi,

Why is this company so bad?

From the migration from Octaplus to TheOne it has been awful.

Now let me be clear once the service was working and till now there is little to no issues I have experienced.

But there support and every other aspect of the way they communicate with their customers is shocking.

It still remins to be hard work.

I just do not understand how it can be this bad.

Because I am still in contract I decided to upgrade (as I have already said the actual service is fine) but it has reinstalled my thoughts on just how bad this company remains to be.

Has anyone had any good experience or is everyone just raging at this company ?

Trust pilot is not the best.

Usenet Posting Tools

What tools these days are people using to post to Usenet?

I'm talking about where automation comes in at its best, for example, where rar files are created and par2 files are created, and also the disguising of the file names, etc.

I have seen ngpost. Is there anything better than this or more updated?

Thanks in advance.

2.5gb usage limitations?

Hi,

With city fibre based isps, has anyone had any experience where high usage can be a problem?

Be it from downloading or uploading?

I like the idea of the 2.5gb speeds but if there are likely to be issues from high usage then I will probably pass.

I understand that there can be various factors to take into account here like high usage over a long time or high usage over smaller time periods. My question is mainly based around others experience and if there has been any limitations put in place due to excessive utilisation ?

Thanks

My solution to head dry out

I used ChatGPT to get a guide on using a raspberry pi to make a weekly test print that is sent to my printer to hopefully prevent the head drying out. This is what It does....

Every saturday around 6pm I get a message on Telegram with two commands.... print and skip.

If I reply with print a test print is sent to the printer. If I type skip or nothing at all. No print is sent.

If I have not printed anything on the printer that week I will print off the test sheet of all the colours.

Works really well using CUPS and ChatGPT helped me with it all.

Head dry out prevention

How do you all prevent the head drying out?

Is a full colour test print per week what is needed or are there other things to do to keep the printer in good shape?

Thanks
