Challenge of Writing Arguments

What challenges have you found when writing arguments? Does anyone else wonder, when having two characters argue, if you've written enough lines? Do you also tell yourself to not let the dialogue get carried away? (It so easily could.) Deciding how an argument stops - when nothing is destined to get resolved - is another challenge.

Do the Scenes You Write Ever Cause You to Tear Up?

How many of us are so moved by our characters' moments that we are brought to tears while writing wrenching or poignant scenes? This has happened to me with my current project.

Scriptwriter with a Question

Hello. It seems that a bot has misunderstood my first post, possibly deleting it. I'll revise it. I am a playwright who needs to check the plausibility of a fictional situation between characters. Is it believable that a parent states a stipulation that a child will receive full inheritance on the condition that he/she graduate from college by a certain age? Thank you.

Question Regarding Plausibility of Script's Legal Situation

Hello, I am a playwright who needs to check the legal plausibility of a situation between characters. I would appreciate your input.

The characters live in the NYC metro area. "N" is the executor of her mother's estate. N (late 20s, hardworking professional) has one sibling, "D," who has had a history of instability. As the play opens, he is 20, and he leads her to believe he withdrew from a prestigious college, in order to dive into the music industry. (She soon discovers he was kicked out.) D, who had been a child prodigy, had a full-tuition scholarship; the college just required him to pay room and board.

I have it that, before passing, the mother stipulated that he would receive full inheritance on the condition that he graduate from college by age 25. Until then, he has gotten room and board paid by the trust, as well as an allowance for necessities. Now that he has screwed up (drugs and emotional dysregulation) N wants to keep to her mother's stipulation.

My question is...is this plausible? Have you seen a parent put conditions like this in wills? Thank you for your input.

If Your Loved One Has Stolen From You...

Hello, I'm a playwright who is researching for a current project. If your loved one has stolen from you, and you have had proof, and confronted them with it, what was their verbal response? Denial would be ludicrous for my character; his sister found the pawn shop receipt in his coat. An excuse, such as a perceived entitlement? Or some other response? I've an idea of where to go with this scene, however I would like to consider other avenues. Thank you for sharing your experience.

If you've had undeniable evidence that a family member stole from you, and you or another family member confronted them, what verbal responses from this family member did you receive?
