TV show reference tattoos - always a bad idea?

My instinctive answer would be "obviously, what if you stop liking it?!"

I don't really see that happening, as I fell in love with it at 12 and am still collecting any memorabilia I can. I've seen the show in it's entirety 5 times in 6 years and engage with it in some shape or form almost every day.

I want it above my knee, 12cm across and about 2cm tall in FF Trixie (the most recognisable X-Files font) - "I want to believe".

I do want to believe! I've drawn this on with eyeliner a handful of times too - always felt right.

I'm 18 as of April so obviously I haven't fully formed that good old prefrontal cortex. I've had this particular design in mind for about a year, but have always wanted an X-Tat.

I suppose I'm consulting you all as the wise older people you are. Do you have any TV show tattoos and do you regret them? Do we reckon I (try to) put the idea aside for a few years and see if I'm still that keen then?

P.S... A traditional style Scully portrait is on the bucket list too... But that's decades away 😆

(AUS) Getting a warning for calling in sick

Yesterday I had to call out half an hour before my shift because I had the worst migraine. It's obviously not long enough to get a cover but genuinely what was I supposed to do about that, I can't just will the thing away because I have work. When I called the manager she kept telling me that I would have to come in and I obviously refused because I wasn't physically incapable of that. Then she said she's giving me a warning. I only started a month ago too so it's not a good look. I really don't see how I deserve to be written up for a medical issue completely out of my control.

I'll edit instead of replying to everyone, I did try to find a cover but couldn't. The store I work has barely any customers, 90% of the time there is spent wiping counters that really don't need it. I absolutely would've gone in if it was just a headache - my migraines are so bad that I can't see. I wouldn't have been able to even get to the store. I could barely managed to call. They hired me knowing that I get them this severely and that they come on with such short notice. I don't disagree with anyone saying that I messed up the shift plan but I still don't agree with being written up 🤷 Maybe if I was just lazy and decided I didn't want to go in.

(AUS) Is it not okay to ask for another uniform?

It's my first week (I read the new employee post!), actually my second proper shift today. I worked the day before yesterday and my pants got dirty from a car splashing me on my way home, so obviously I washed them, but I'm low on money so waited for the next day when I actually had enough washing to fill up the machine. Thought it'd be fine since I had a whole day and a half for them to dry but the pants were still wet and I don't have a dryer - I figured I'll need another uniform anyway since it looks like I'm going to be working 4 days in a row on regular schedule.

I explained all this to one manager and she said it was fine and she'd get another pair, but the other one went on a whole rant about how "that's no excuse" and repeatedly telling me I couldn't wear the pants I was wearing on the floor (duh, dude, why does he think I'm asking for another pair???). I was honestly also hoping this time they'd give me a pair that fit, since the ones I got were 2 sizes too big. Wishful thinking.

Anyway, do the uniforms really cost them that much? I just can't see why this was such a big deal.

Haven't heard from friend since he went to a 6am hookup

He went once we got back from the club. Just some random guy off Grindr, none of us know him or where he lives. He hasn't been online on Instagram since yesterday and when I called him it rang but some voicemail thing said "we advise that the number you have called is currently switched off or unavailable". It's 4pm now so it's been a long time, he doesn't ever sleep that long at other people's houses and especially not after drinking. He just turned 18 too. Is it dramatic to call the police? I just don't know where to go with this situation
