Handwatch brigade are the absolute worst of the watch community

Trying to convince yourself you are better because you wear your watch on your forearm is the height of clown status within the watch community. It is significantly more cringe than brand-based chuffing that goes on.

Even the most chuffed of watch collectors, such as Rolex or GS fanboys, don't go around taking pictures of other people's watches and posting them online in mockery.

Rather than chuff themselves about wearing thier own watch a certain way and post pictures of thier own wrist (or forearm), they post pictures of other people (no consent obv) in mockery to make themselves feel somehow superior.

This is the equivalent of say a Rolex fanboy posting a pic of a Seiko and saying "LOL poor watch spotted at the airport". But no, they don't do that. They just post thier own watch on a backdrop of thier wife's tits or a cigar and whiskey. It is actually quite an achievement to come across as more of a clown than that.

There is actually a reason that in real life as well as media, the VAST majority of people wear their watch on thier wrist (aka "handwatch").

It's because this is the CORRECT position. It is a WRISTwatch , not a forearmwatch. You are supposed to wear it on your wrist.

Wearing it high up on your forearm looks stupid, exactly like someone who wore thier shirt inside out, or tucked thier trousers into thier sock.

There Is also a reason you don't see "forearm watch" equivalent brigade. Because:

  1. nearly everyone wears their wrist watches in the correct position, on their wrists, so it's rare to find out in the wild.

  2. regular people are too busy enjoying their own watches or not caring at all to bother taking pictures of others to circlejerk online.

How hard is it to learn handpan on your own compared to other instruments?

I've always loved this instrument, and always wanted to learn an instrument but put it off.

I was wondering how hard is it to learn by yourself (i.e. without workshops etc..) just with online resources. I currently can't travel and would just be practicing at home.

Are there any recommended resources for learning more?

Also I was wondering if anyone has any expirence buying a handpan in the UK?

Thank you ,

PIP telephone assesment with maximus, nervous and trying to prepare. Uncertain about legalities if recording

Hi everyone,

I have applied for PIP following some injuries sustained on an accident. I have a telephone appointment in a few days with maximus.

I am trying to prepare as best I can. I will re-read my application, but I was wondering what else I could do. For example, I'm trying to figure out a list of common questions and awsners used to "trip up" applicants to unfairly deny them, such as asking about pets, children, education, games etc...

I was wondering if there were any resources on common issues people run into or get tripped up by? Anything I should prepare for or avoid?

I was also wondering if I have to or should declare if I'm recording the call? I live in England.

Usually my wife helps me with things, but she will not be able to be there, and in some ways I'd prefer her not to as I'm worried they will try to trip her up too.

Quite nervous overall, but I am glad to finally get all this over soon hopefully, and not have to drag it out with appeals.

Any help would be most appreciated, and thank you

What has been your expirence with spring drive, hi-beat and 9F servicing?

After a few recent discussions of servicing issues, I wanted to ask and get an idea of the broader expirence around servicing with Grand Seiko.

Some people have reported very long wait times, while others have had much faster expirences.

How quick was your turnaround, and where are you based? Was your issue with spring drive, hi-beat or 9F? Was it inside or outside warranty?

Ideally it would be nice to hear from people who have had positive as well as negative expirences,

Best reputable stores or websites to check for limited edition SBGA483 hitting the market?

Hello,

I want to buy the SBGA483, limited edition and relatively rare piece.

I was wondering which websites, e.g. Japanese stores, are reputable that I should be checking or setting up alerts for?

Queri has one listed but I haven't heard anything about them. Are there other stores which could source one for me?

Thank you,

Is queri in Japan a good store to order GS from overseas?

I was thinking of ordering a Grand Seiko from Japan . I found a website called queri, but I've never ordered a watch from Japan before. I live in the UK.

I think they use a proxy service called From Japan.

I've never ordered a watch , especially of this value, and used a proxy.

Is this a good idea? or risky? Is there anything I can do to mitigate the risk?

Grand Seiko snowflake clone, does it exist?

Is there such a thing in the market?

I do not mind If it's not spring drive or zaratsu finished etc... I am just looking for something simmilar with the textured white dial.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

How good is the GS official 16mm deployant clasp and 18mm buckle compared to other options on the market?

I was looking to dress up my black heritage in some aftermarket leather straps, and I looked into some nice better finished buckles and clasps on the market.

I was surprised to find a lack of well finished buckles, but there were a few clasps.

In particular the 16mm deployant clasp and another separate 18mm buckle (originally for silicone band) caught my eye.

Does anyone with some expirence with these know how these compare to simmilar options?

For example there is a very highly regarded deployant clasp on Alix for a fraction on the cost, or against higher end options from omega etc..
