Glad i took jss aktu instead of mnit allahabad 19F

I was getting ece in nit allahabad but i took jss Noida and Life has never been the same again.. it's just feels like I'm in a school again..😭 nostalgia hits hard..ptms are held.. teacher also scold us like kids..class j bahar khada kr dete hai hath khada karke.. even attendance bhi compulsory hai just like school..and placements have skyrocketed this year avg is 11 lpa median of cse is 17lpa competing directly with tier 1 colleges

Thinking of Taking Electrical Engineering at a State College — Worth It if I Love Math/Physics but Don’t Like Coding?

Hey everyone,

I’m likely joining a state government college this year for Electrical Engineering.

I’ve never been very interested in coding or software development. What I genuinely enjoy is solving challenging math and physics problems, especially topics like circuits, electromagnetism, and control systems. Because of that, EE seems like a good fit, but I’m unsure about the career prospects.

I often hear that many engineers eventually end up in IT/software, and that core jobs are limited or don’t pay that well at the beginning.

So I wanted to ask:

- Is EE a good choice if you genuinely enjoy math and physics?

- What career options are available after B.Tech?

- Are GATE and PSU jobs the main path, or are there strong private-sector opportunities too?

- How much coding is actually needed in core electrical roles?

- Do most Electrical Engineering graduates eventually switch to tech/software jobs?

- Can you build a successful and well-paying career in core EE without moving to IT?

- What skills should I focus on from first year?

I’m willing to work hard and maintain a good CGPA. I’d really appreciate honest advice from EE students and professionals, especially those who studied at state colleges.

Thanks!
