So I live in South Eastern NJ and will be away from my home for roughly 3 weeks in August. I have central AC that runs well and sees routine maintenance. Ive been running it at 72 degrees this summer and it runs great. I also have central dehumidifier unit.

I was thinking of setting the temp to 85 when away. Thoughts on that? Also, currently the fan setting is "ON" as opposed to auto or circulate. Was going to set it to auto when gone.

I have a Honeywell T6 Pro Series Digital Thermostat that is connected to my wifi network. Its registered to the Resideo First Alert app so I can control my thermostat remotely via my phone.

What would yall suggest i set everything to? Thx!

I recently completed both a Lil Spite and Vogel kit, which are both pro series 2 Estes kits, and am looking to do another. The Nike Smoke and Jayhawk are my two options, with the Jayhawk being more detailed/difficult (expert level) and the Nike smoke being intermediate.

Both have stellar reviews and are highly recommended. I only see people complaining about the Jayhawk balsa fins (particularly the lack of strength and complexity of build, being multi piece glue up jobs). The Smoke has plastic finished fins, which sounds great.

Im worried that ill find the Nike smoke build a bit too easy/boring if it's anything like the Lil Spite was.

If anyone has experience with either, or both kits, please weigh in here. Price is close but the difference isnt a factor. Im looking for a challenging and rewarding build that is also great to fly and fun.

Hi everyone,

I just finished building an Estes Lil Spite Rocket Kit and am looking to send it up as soon as I have good weather and time. This is the first F class engine launch for me after starting with smaller stuff and working my way upwards.

Im a bit confused about some of the instructions for the "launch prep". They instruct you to wrap 6-8 layers of masking tape covering the bottom 1/4 inch of the engine. I did this and cut away the excess just as shown in the instructions (I have 1 inch wide masking tape so cut the 3/4 inch hanging part off).

The issue is that after seating the engine up in the rocket, I can only screw the retainer cap maybe 1/4-1/3rd of the threading. Without the tape i can obviously screw the cap completely down until the threading ends.

I get the concept as the tape ring is there to prevent the engine from moving upwards in the rocket, but the cap barely screws on so im worried it won't be secured enough.

I built it exactly to the instructions specifications and used epoxy to adhere the threaded engine retention ring (that the retention cap screws onto.

Any advice or info would be great, thx.

Im gonna be launching it via rail buttons and the Estes launch rail that I recently got.
