Old TV show

When I was younger age 5-8 so 1990-1994 in the era of tv shows like Unsolved mysteries, and the old show Rescue 911 about real 911 stories showing the call and police response. I don't remember what show it was maybe Unsolved Mysteries? But there was a story on the show about a family that had a poltergeist in their house and that it was centered? around the teen daughter? and the camera crew that was filming the story caught the teen (or one of the teens) on the couch and the "ghost" threw a blanket over her head. I grew up in California and had limited TV channels I say this as any cases from the Warrens were not known to me literally until the Conjuring movies started coming out. And I don't believe it was on Beyond Belief because it came out later and remember more of it.

Thanks for the help!

Dad isn't telling me the real truth

So I (39f) am helping my Dad (72m) who is currently in the hospital for rehab after having surgery to remove rectal cancer and currently has a colostomy bag that once healed is going to be reversed.
He didn’t tell me that he wasn’t walking and getting around after 3 weeks of being in the hospital 3 hours away from where we live.

So he’s discharged (because there’s no longer a medical reason from the surgery to keep him in the hospital) and I believe the hospital and him that he’s ready to go home. He fell after walking 6 feet from the car trying to get into the house. Had to call my mom and stepdad (my parents are divorced over 15 years) to help me get my dad up. We got him into the house and into his recliner and my dad’s response is “just leave me here but get me containers to empty everything, I will be ok”

So I’m pissed that I would have made rehab arrangements if I knew he was that bad. Thankfully my dad reached the conclusion that this is not safe for him and had me call in a non-emergency call for an ambulance to transport him to the local hospital for the rehab he needs.

But today I wasted over 3 hours on the phone because he’s running out of colostomy bags and “the hospital isn’t ordering them” (his words to me) and he got a kit through the mail (don’t know if doctors or surgery hospital ordered it) and I thought I was ordering the kit…. No there’s all individual pieces and parts that I needed to order. Ok lesson learned, but when trying to get a medical supplies company send them monthly they can’t help me because “it’s the hospital’s job to order what he needs” (I understand) but from what I’m being told they’re not and I’m having to do it. So 3 hours later I finally get a number for the nurses to call to order supplies from now on. I call my dad to let him know when I bring his dinner tonight I have a solution to get his supplies sent. He then tells me to bring his credit card with me so he can pay for it. I tell him “No. It’s the hospital’s responsibility to order and Medicare and his insurance will pay for it.” He then tells me “well never mind because they’re ordering bags that are being paid for by insurance but I don’t like those bags.”

So I wasted 3 hours begging for help for my dad and getting the run around of “we can’t help it’s the hospital that needs to do this” but yet I’m not getting the full story. I go to college online part time, I work full time and feel like I’m taking care of of all his responsibilities and trying to get him “the help he’s telling me he needs” but actually it’s just a waste of my time.

I love my dad, but I’m tired of half stories, having to postpone everything I’m doing to make sure I get him extra food because hospital food isn’t preferred and wants it nearly immediately, paying all his bills by check, and getting phone call after phone call knowing I’m going to visit him the same night after I get off work if I checked the mail? Did you update my checkbook? Did you mail my bills? Can you get me tacos from the taco truck but I need them before you go to work.

I’m burning out here. And today was just icing on the cake.

Professor seems like they can’t be bothered

I’m taking online classes for my paralegal degree. I’ve had to email the professor a few times with questions and it seems like the professor can’t be bothered to answer/explain what I’ve emailed asking for clarification on.
The first question was about the required textbook. The professor did not advise the bookstore about the book so the bookstore couldn’t help me (or the other students in the class) I waited for the syllabus (I have had to do this before no big deal) but the syllabus said 2016 8th edition. Google said there was no such thing as 2016 8th edition. 8th wasn’t published until 2021. So I emailed asking for the ISBN number to give to the bookstore to order it along with the date issue I was running into. Literally 4 sentence email. Got emailed back the book is in the syllabus. Eventually got the book issue resolved.

Now I submitted my first assignment that had a list of vocabulary words and discussion questions, extra credit questions and a research question. I had all parts individually labeled and got a low grade because “discussion questions” were not answered. So I completed the top and bottom sections but not the middle? I answered everything. So I emailed asking the professor’s preference for formatting the vocabulary document assignment since I’m missing points for answering the questions (not that they were incorrect but completely not answered at all) and got an email back to read the syllabus. I have read every single instruction and syllabus prompt. And copied every part of the assignment page to ensure I’m following all directions and completing all parts and put it into a word document.

It feels like I’m asking someone how old they are and get told “I don’t like hamburgers” like what?!? I’m not writing 5 paragraph emails literally 4 sentences and still not getting an answer.

Has this happened to anyone else? Any ideas of what to do because I don’t know how I could be anymore clear in my email that “problem need help”
And get a response of “apples are green”.

Pointed out an BIG error on professor's syllabus.... Did I mess up?

Hi there,

(I want to say first, that I am the type of student that I will exhaust all options before contacting the professor for anything, I also did contact other students in the class for help but never got an answer back from them)

I need some help. I am taking paralegal classes online. I have taken my college "career" very seriously my GPA is 3.6. When my last class ended there was about a one month brake. I kept checking back with on the college website for the textbook to be posted. Now I have had classes before where the Professor doesn't (for whatever reason) post the necessary textbook with the bookstore and I have had to wait for the class to open and read the syllabus to find the book I need. So I figured this was the same situation..... BUT

I read the syllabus and found the name of the book and it had the title the year and the edition number. My plan was to google it and maybe find it way cheaper on ebay or amazon. But when I googled all the information the book does not exist. The year stated in the syllabus was not the correct year for the edition number. I tried calling the bookstore that the college uses and because I didn't have (the first time I called) the ISBN number for the book they can't help me. I contacted the bookstore again after the class started with the name, year, and edition number (more information then I had before) and because the professor hasn't sent the book information to the bookstore they can't help me.

So google couldn't really help, the bookstore after two phone calls couldn't help, so I emailed the professor. Basically I told the professor the whole story and even that google has me confused because the year for the edition in the syllabus is incorrect and I just want to make sure that I have the correct book, can I have the ISBN number for the correct book that I need.

When the professor emailed me back she stated, "The book is in the syllabus."

Now I do understand that some professors have students that do not read any of the information they post for the class and get emails for questions that are plainly stated in the information of the class. But this wasn't that. And I had previously provided the details of where I was running into trouble. So I emailed the professor back and tried to "reassure" her that I have read the syllabus (how I got the name of the book/edition number/year) but that (for the second time) google can't find the book and this time I included a screen shot from amazon showing the edition she is requesting is a completely different year, so I still need verification of the correct book.

Got an email later stating, "We are using the latest edition." Ok... not really helpful because of google still showing me that the latest edition/only edition was the 8th. So I called the physical bookstore on campus to try and order the book from them. They just accept rental returns and give out completed orders. So I had an idea that maybe there's a book list submitted to the advising/counseling department (idk). So I called and talked to a really nice lady told her everything and what the professor has emailed me back and that I need HELP. For the third time that day I got told "this is the professor's problem, not yours." I agree but I still need help. They don't get a book list for the classes they advise on, but she offered that if I don't hear from the professor in the next one to two days to call back and she will be telling everyone in the office what is going on so if I call and don't get her others will know to help me right away.

I don't know what transpired between calling the advising office but then (I'm just guessing, maybe the professor thought about it or read my email again or maybe the advising office contacted the professor) but I got an email from the professor saying, "I don't know why the information is incorrect but I will look into it." Later I got a personal email from the professor saying, "Yes, you are correct the syllabus has an error and here's the link to the correct book you need." Then the class got a post with the same textbook update and now the syllabus is corrected.

OK, no problem! Right??? I am now questioning if I really messed up because I got my first grade on my first assignment... I did not receive points for the discussion questions that were clearly stated in the assignment. I copied and pasted everything into Word the vocab words, the discussion questions, the extra credit option, and the research instructions/question we had to answer.

I underlined the different topics and had them centered in the middle of the page as kind of a "Different section now" type signal. And even if the professor just scanned/not full on reading the completed assignment it is clear that there was discussion question marked 1 and an answer under it then number 4 and an answer under it. Everything else is there the top of the assignment and the last part but not the simple 2 "middle" questions?

Did I mess up my pointing out the professor's syllabus is wrong? I did email the professor for clarification to ask what would be a way to improve the layout of my word document should I put each item on one page each? Should I use the headings setup in word for each section? Since I didn't get points for answering the discussion questions. (Still waiting to hear back).

I am even wondering if maybe the material was based on an earlier edition that maybe the new edition for the class maybe has different discussion questions, so maybe I had the wrong questions/and answers for why I didn't get the points. There were three grading options: 2 points for a full/correct answer, 1 point for a mostly correct answer but not the full answer, and 0 point for did not answer the question at all. I got 0 on question 1 and 0 on question 4.

Any advise? Did I mess up? What can I do?

Pointed out a BIG error in Professor's syllabus.... did I mess up for the rest of the class?
