Virtual Racing Hub (VRH) leaked/shared my private contact info with a third-party company a month after my refund dispute went viral

Just when I thought the Virtual Racing Hub (VRH) cancelation and refund drama was finally behind me, they found a brand new way to cross the line.

A month after my post exposing their hidden fees and legal threats went viral across the Indian gaming subreddits, I randomly received an unsolicited marketing message out of nowhere on WhatsApp today. The text is from a business account named "Bad Boi Drifts" (Screenshot attached). The message literally says:

"Hi ##@@##, I'm Mugdha from Bad Boi Drifts. Our friends at Virtual Racing Hub thought you might be interested in drifting, so they asked me to reach out." ### The Connection: For context, Bad Boi Drifts is technically registered as a separate entity. However, if you open Virtual Racing Hub's official "About Us" page right now, they openly state that the co-founders of VRH (Akshat Taneja and Pavitra Balakrishnan) are literally core instructors at Bad Boi Drifts.
This means the guys at VRH took my private mobile number—which I provided to them strictly under standard consumer terms to process a retail simulation hardware transaction—and passed it along into their parallel business circle to run targeted marketing pitches a month later. Why this is incredibly messed up:

  1. Zero Consent / Data Leak: I have never signed, checked a box, or given any verbal/written consent allowing VRH to share my personal data with an external business or partner academy.

  2. Blatant Privacy Violation: Under Indian consumer privacy norms and the DPDP Act framework, a business cannot casually trade or hand off a customer's personal data to their "friends" for advertising.

  3. Vindictive Tracking: They clearly kept my records active to systematically monitor or pass around my file after our payment dispute.

If you value your data privacy and don't want your private phone number handed over to separate commercial entities just because the owners happen to be friends or business partners behind the scenes, think twice before handing your contact details over to Virtual Racing Hub. FINAL UPDATE: After putting them on blast, I just received a follow-up message from Bad Boi Drifts apologizing. They admitted in writing that Virtual Racing Hub did indeed pass my details along to them under the "understanding" that I was interested. They confirmed they have now removed my number. This is a total admission of guilt. VRH leaked the data, got caught, and their partners had to clean up the mess.

The lack of basic corporate compliance and professionalism is astonishing. Leaving a link to the original post here for anyone who needs the backstory on why they have my file/number active in the first place: https://www.reddit.com/r/IndianPCGamers/comments/1tryt1r/reviewpsa_my_experience_cancelling_a_major/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Need help with ResellPur Escrow for a ₹35k GPU sale

Hi everyone,

I'm selling a GPU for **₹35,000**, and the buyer has requested using ResellPur escrow.

I haven't used the service before, so I had a few questions:

* How does the escrow process work? * Who usually pays the escrow fee? * When is the payment released to the seller? * What should I be careful about as a first-time seller? * Any tips or things to avoid?

Thanks in advance!

WTS GIGABYTE RX 9060XT 16GB OC.

Hey everyone!

Selling my Gigabyte RX 9060 XT 16GB (less than a year used).

✅ Mint condition ✅ Invoice available ✅ Around 2+ years official warranty remaining ✅ Bought from MODX ✅ Never mined on, used for gaming and programing. ✅ Original box available

Price: ₹39,000 (slightly negotiable)

Face-to-face deal preferred.

If you're nearby (Haldwani), you're welcome to test the card in your own PC before buying. I currently have a new GPU installed and don't plan on removing it, so testing in your system would be preferred. If you're willing to pick me up and drop me back, I don't mind accompanying you for testing.

LOCAL DEALS PREFERED OR IF YOU HAVE A RELATIVE HE CAN PICK IT UP FOR YOU, SHIPPING CAN BE DONE BUT ON YOUR OWN RISK, AND I DONT HAVE THE ORIGINAL THERMOCOL OF THE GPU(AS I RECIEVED IT VIA MODX AS A CUSTOM PC BUILD) BUT HAVE BUBBLE WRAP AND OTHER THERMOCOL SO I CAN MAKE SURE IT DOESN'T MOVE INSIDE THE BOX.

Selling it cuz i upgraded to 5080.

Feel free to DM if interested. 🙂

[Review/PSA] My experience cancelling a major pre-order with Virtual Racing Hub (VRH) – Know your consumer rights!

Hey guys, wanting to share a quick PSA and review regarding my recent experience with Virtual Racing Hub (U Tashtri OPC Pvt Ltd) after trying to cancel a high-value pre-order (just under ₹50k). Long story short: I needed to cancel a pre-order where zero inventory had been allocated or shipped. The Initial Pushback: Support initially hit me with a hard "no cancellations for preorders." They claimed that as a "special case," they could look into a reversal a month from now, but would deduct a massive 10% restocking fee. The Legal Reality: A 10% "restocking fee" on an item that hasn't even been assigned to you or packed is legally completely baseless. Under Section 2(46) of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, holding a buyer's money hostage under arbitrary "no cancellation" terms on unfulfilled orders constitutes an Unfair Contract / Unfair Trade Practice. Internal store policies do not override statutory consumer laws. How it got resolved: I didn't back down. I drafted a formal "Final Notice" email naming their registered corporate entity, citing the Consumer Protection Act, and giving them a strict midnight deadline before I filed an official grievance with the National Consumer Helpline (NCH) and escalated to Consumer Court for mental agony compensation. Within an hour, the clock turned back. Their COO called me directly on my phone, apologized for the experience, and agreed to initiate a 95% refund the very next day. They dropped the 10% penalty down to a 5% deduction purely to cover the actual automated payment gateway/website transaction processing fees (which is standard and fair enough since I changed my mind). My Takeaway: While the COO handled the escalation professionally and sorted it out once it hit her desk, it shouldn't take quoting sections of Indian Consumer Law to get a business to stop bullying a customer with illegal "restocking fees." If you are pre-ordering from VRH or any niche sim/hardware site in India, just remember: you have rights. If a company tries to lock your capital down without shipping a product, do not let them wave an internal T&C document in your face. Stand your ground!

UPDATE (Saturday Morning): The intimidation tactics have officially escalated. After ignoring their legal bluff email last night, the Managing Director has now resorted to tracking down my personal WhatsApp to send missed voice calls and explicit legal threats of "Defamation," warning me to remove the review "without escalating things further." > Let it be clear: truth is an absolute defense against defamation. Posting literal screenshots of your own cancellation refusals and documented call spam is a factual account of a consumer experience. Trying to strong-arm and threaten a customer into silence on a Saturday morning on their personal phone line is the ultimate red flag for anyone thinking of pre-ordering here. All communication is permanently blocked, and copies of these chat threats are being compiled for the National Consumer Helpline (NCH).

UPDATE (May 30): Official complaint has been successfully lodged with the National Consumer Helpline (NCH) under Docket ID: 9416929. Let the Ministry of Consumer Affairs officially investigate your business practices and ongoing phone harassment. All communication channels are permanently blocked.
