Virtual Racing Hub (VRH) leaked/shared my private contact info with a third-party company a month after my refund dispute went viral
Just when I thought the Virtual Racing Hub (VRH) cancelation and refund drama was finally behind me, they found a brand new way to cross the line.
A month after my post exposing their hidden fees and legal threats went viral across the Indian gaming subreddits, I randomly received an unsolicited marketing message out of nowhere on WhatsApp today. The text is from a business account named "Bad Boi Drifts" (Screenshot attached). The message literally says:
"Hi ##@@##, I'm Mugdha from Bad Boi Drifts. Our friends at Virtual Racing Hub thought you might be interested in drifting, so they asked me to reach out."
### The Connection:
For context, Bad Boi Drifts is technically registered as a separate entity. However, if you open Virtual Racing Hub's official "About Us" page right now, they openly state that the co-founders of VRH (Akshat Taneja and Pavitra Balakrishnan) are literally core instructors at Bad Boi Drifts.
This means the guys at VRH took my private mobile number—which I provided to them strictly under standard consumer terms to process a retail simulation hardware transaction—and passed it along into their parallel business circle to run targeted marketing pitches a month later.
Why this is incredibly messed up:
Zero Consent / Data Leak: I have never signed, checked a box, or given any verbal/written consent allowing VRH to share my personal data with an external business or partner academy.
Blatant Privacy Violation: Under Indian consumer privacy norms and the DPDP Act framework, a business cannot casually trade or hand off a customer's personal data to their "friends" for advertising.
Vindictive Tracking: They clearly kept my records active to systematically monitor or pass around my file after our payment dispute.
If you value your data privacy and don't want your private phone number handed over to separate commercial entities just because the owners happen to be friends or business partners behind the scenes, think twice before handing your contact details over to Virtual Racing Hub. FINAL UPDATE: After putting them on blast, I just received a follow-up message from Bad Boi Drifts apologizing. They admitted in writing that Virtual Racing Hub did indeed pass my details along to them under the "understanding" that I was interested. They confirmed they have now removed my number. This is a total admission of guilt. VRH leaked the data, got caught, and their partners had to clean up the mess.
The lack of basic corporate compliance and professionalism is astonishing.
