Daughter had enlarged right lobe of thyroid but normal levels

My daughter had blood work, her TSH is normal, her T4 is Normal and her TPO is 20 which is still within normal range. She has an
Ultrasound tomorrow. Just wanting to see if anyone here has dealt with enlarged one side of thyroid but normal blood work?

13 yr old daughter has enlargement on right side of thyroid.

I noticed a lump on my daughters right side of her neck, and immediately took her to the pediatrician today. The pediatrician confirmed it is her thyroid. She was talking to me about everything it could be, and said she doesn’t think it is autoimmune because if it was… the whole thyroid would be enlarged. Is this true?? She told me today she’s never seen one side of a thyroid become enlarged. She also said she did not believe my daughter’s thyroid wasn’t working properly because my daughter hasn’t had a significant amount of weight gain or weight loss. Is this also true? She told me that it could also just be swollen from puberty. My daughter had blood drawn today, I am waiting for the results. I knew it was likely her thyroid and asked for a full panel and she said she doesn’t need an in depth panel right now… she only needs TSH/T4 and antibodies to check for hashimotos or graves. I’m upset about this. She said it could just be a nodule. She really couldn’t tell me what it is until the ultrasound, which I already figured. She has an ultrasound Wednesday, and I am antsy waiting.

Also, my daughter has muffled hearing on the side of the lump. She does have slight fluid in her ear but doctor said it’s not connect to thyroid. But reading about it online, I saw hypothyroidism can cause fluid retention issues in the ear causing muffled hearing etc because of hormonal imbalance.

I’ve never had thyroid issues, so I’m trying to learn as much as I can because I want to advocate for my daughter. Some of the stuff the doctor said, I’m very confused about, so figured I’d ask here. Thank you!

My 13 yr old has a lump on her thyroid.

My 13 year old has had a lump on her neck that I noticed. Saw her pediatrician today and her pediatrician confirmed it is her thyroid. (Which I immediately thought it was as it moves up and down when she swallows). She had blood work today. I asked her pediatrician for a full thyroid panel and she told me for right now all she needs is a TSH/T4 and antibodies blood test. So I’m a bit upset about that. She has an ultrasound scheduled this Wednesday. Her pediatrician did say that she’s never seen just one side of the thyroid affected. Said it’s likely not autoimmune because if it were autoimmune the whole thyroid would be swollen. Is this true?? I’ve never heard that before?? She also said that since my daughter hasn’t gained or lost a significant amount of weight that she does not think that her thyroid isn’t functioning properly. She said it could just be swollen from puberty. I know I won’t know anything fully until we get blood results back, and get the ultrasound. But figured I’d ask here if what she said she was true? I’ve never had any thyroid issues so I know nothing about it. I’m just trying to learn as much as I can so I can advocate correctly for my daughter.

Also, she has muffled hearing in the side the lump is on, said it sound like fluid in her ear. Doctor confirmed she does have a small amount of fluid, she let me see today also. I asked if it’s connected because I had read online that hypothyroidism can cause fluid retention in the ears causing muffled hearing and sounding like water was in your ears. She told me that’s not true, they’re not connected. So curious if anyone dealt with this also.

Thank you!

heterogeneous appearing right ovary and heterogeneous uterus?

My ultrasound results showed heterogeneous appearing right ovary and heterogeneous uterus. I was told I had adenomyosis but I’ve been searching the group and haven’t seen anyone mention the heterogeneous appearing ovary? Figured I’d ask! My gyno just said my ovary has seen better days. lol.

Ovulation pain

Anyone else get fairly bad ovulation pain? Maybe perimenopause is worsening it and it’s not adenomyosis but in my 20/30s I would get ovulation pain and it would be a dull ache on my side. Now since my 40s it’s a full on lower back pain/pressure. Pain in my lower stomach. Today I am even having hip pain/and pain in my groin area (like where my vagina lip is). I’m on day 2, I know it’s ovulation because this happens every month, right on ovulation day. It’s horrible.

I had a vaginal ultrasound in 2021 for pain during ovulation and that’s how they found adenomyosis. My one ovary was also smaller than the other lol.

Ovulation pain worse in peri?

Hello! I’ve always had ovulation pain. In my 20s and 30s it could be a dull ache on my side (where ovaries are). Now as I’ve gotten older, my ovulation pain has worsened and now I get pretty bad pressure in my back and lower abdomen. Sometimes it feels like it’s even going into my kidneys. It lasts about 24/48 hours. I have had a vaginal ultrasound and they didn’t find anything other than what appeared to be adenomyosis. So not sure if that’s the reason or peri but it started once I hit peri.

Chemical/reactive gastritis.

Just got my endoscopy results back. They said I had mild gastritis after my endoscopy, everything was negative but said I have chronic inflammation in the esophagus junction, so I have acid reflux esophagitis, and evidently I have chemical/reactive gastritis. Said to stop drinking alcohol and stop NSAIDS, but I barely take NSAIDS. I’m actually weird about taking meds. I also drink once or twice a year. Said it could be from bile acid, she said maybe in the future they may prescribe a bile acid binder. I’ve had bad acid reflux since I was a baby. So I definitely think all my issues are acid reflux related.

Anyone else have the same issue?

Had upper endoscopy today and I don’t remember what they said to me. (Results in post).

I had an upper endoscopy today. I woke up and they handed me the findings and I don’t remember what they said. I’m due for a follow up in 3 months, I’m not even sure why. I have no follow up about my results… they took 4 biopsies. My husband was with me but he isn’t great to take to things like this because he won’t remember what they said either 😩. I was awake… I just don’t remember. Should I call and ask the on call nurse? lol they mentioned possibly stretching something but I dunno what because my esophagus looked normal.

Findings: irregular z-line in the gastroesphageal junction.(biopsy for Barrett’s esophagus)

-otherwise normal esophagus (biopsy to rule out EoE)

- mild gastritis in strum and stomach body (biopsy to rule out h. Pylori)

- erythema in the duodenal bulb (biopsy to rule out celiac)

/ clean based ulceration in the atrum

I originally got the EDG because food gets stuck in my throat) my allergist said sounds like EoE.

Possible EoE and see GI doctor… question.

Hello! I’m really struggling with whatever is going on. My allergist and pcp seem to think I could possibly have EoE. Won’t know til the endoscopy. I see my GI doctor on Monday… and was wondering… how long does it take to schedule and get in for an endoscopy? I need to give my job a heads up, but I also hoping to get in asap.

Should I be taking PPis? Or just wait? I have GERD, recently started having burning in my chest and into my back when I swallow and whatever I eat goes down, even a drink today. I am burping nonstop. Feeling like burps are getting stuck. Burping up undigested food. Having mid back pain from swallowing. Chicken/bread, rice, muffins, etc goes down SO slow and I’m terrified to eat steak or bacon because of this. Never get anything stuck. Just goes down slow and burns. I’m miserable! Any advice til I am seen?
