Severe severe functional dyspepsia coupled with gastroparesis, help

Does anyone else get fullness pressure pain bloating nausea after literally 1 mouthful of food? It feels like I've had a buffet EVERY TIME and stays that way for the rest of the day. I weigh 37kg at 5ft4, I feel like I'm dying and doctors just keep bloody telling me to meditate after failing a bunch of meds.

What do I do? Does/did anyone else have it this bad and find something that helps?

Guys I gained a little weight!

31F severely unwell gastroparesis and intestinal dysmotility patient, stuck on a feeding tube for 2.5 years. I've been fluctuating between 34kg and 36.5kg for the past 2 years and this morning after going to the bathroom I did my weekly weigh in and I've hit 37kg. I've been really pushing myself this past week and I've been literally spooning butter on one tiny 50p sized cracker as much as I can. I know I'm still 11kg underweight and have a very long way to go (and may realistically never get there), but I was so excited when I saw that scale today.

Any tips for stomach friendly smoothies and puree/liquidy foods (high calorie preferably) that I can try to see if I can keep the scale going up?

Thanks!

Finally being referred to palliative care!

I dont know whether or not they will accept me, they rejected me at the end of last year. But my GP let me attach my own statement to his referral and I am praying with every thought I have that they will accept me and finally get my symptoms under control. It's been 4 years of pure hell, feeding tubes and near death experiences so I really need some relief.

Good thoughts and prayers would be amazing if any of you can spare the energy 🙏🏻

GP diet and weight gain advice

Hey fellow sufferers,

31F with severe GP/global dysmotility and severe functional dyspepsia. Been stuck at 35kg for 3 years when I'm supposed to be at least 48kg for my height etc.

I was wondering if anyone has advice for following a strict GP diet? I can only have liquids, purees and very very soft foods that are able to be chewed to a smooth paste. I can also only eat very small amounts at once. I stick to the diet mostly but I still have fat because if I didnt I'd be even skinnier, however my symptoms are so unbearable I can barely function...

Any high calorie recipes and food suggestions, diet tips, suggestions of any kind welcome. I can't keep living like this and something needs to change.

Anyone else here with gastroparesis trying to gain weight?

31F 5ft3 and 35kg. Trying to get back up to 55kg but I've been stuck at this weight give or take 2 kilos for 3 years now. I feel full quickly, it lasts for hours and I struggle with nausea pain and bloating. I'm on liquids/pureed foods only.

Anyone else here in a similar boat with any tips to share for gaining weight? Im so close to just giving up trying.

Charity shops and vintage shops?

Hey everyone,

I'll be visiting Leeds at the end of next week for 4 days and was wondering where I can find some great charity shops and vintage shops! I havent visited since early 2019 as I've been too sick to travel, but hoping I can make it down and do some shopping while my partners at an event.

Also any interesting places to add to the list! And anywhere I can get a darn good soup (liquid/puree diet) and good coffee.

Thanks!

Looking forward to coming back 😀

Are any of you genuinely happy?

Do any of you who suffer from severe gastroparesis experience happiness? Like are you happy in life?

Ive been suffering for 4.5 years non stop, I dont get flares I get all day every day symptoms. Started mild and now I am so severe I can't function and I'm housebound. Nauseous 24/7. Can't eat, can barely drink, barely sleep, in and out of hospital constantly, feeding tube, paralysed bowels/colon now too etc. I'm entirely miserable. I can't imagine living another 50 years like this. (As if my body would survive another 50 years of this).

I know some people are capable of being happy living a life with chronic illness, but I cannot remember the last time I felt happy. And I dont think I will ever be happy so long as I am sick.

Are any of you happy despite suffering?

Edit: thank you all for your replies, I'm so sorry most of you are suffering and miserable too! For those of you who feel happiness, I'm glad GP hasn't stolen everything from you and you can still be happy 🙏🏻 I think its too late for me now.

Plant based weight gain shakes/powders preferably

I know there's ensure nutrivigor plant based but is that really all there is? Im in the UK and can't seem to find any other powders to add to my nutritional shakes to increase the calories. I mean if I add in a banana and some peanut butter I can get my fortisip 2kcal plant up to 600kcal, but would hope with a protein powder or weight gain powder (none oat based, too thick) I could add another 100 or so.

Any suggestions appreciated! Even other things I can add in to increase calories without too much volume!

Buspirone for FD/GP?

Has anyone used buspirone for their symptoms and has it helped at all? Docs have agreed to let me try it off label but they want me completely off lorazepam first...which ive been taking 2-3x weekly for over 2 years. Out of the 10 or so medications Ive tried for nausea pain fullness etc its the only thing that breaks me out of a bad flare.

Anyway any insights would be appreciated! I have severe FD and GP, 4 years of worsening symptoms and im tube fed with literally zero quality of life.

Thanks!
