Is it okay for me to wear elbow pads in sparring even though I won’t use elbows?

As title says, I’ve been sparring a lot at this new gym. We haven’t trained elbows yet in sparring but I’m wondering if it’s okay for me to wear my elbow pads anyway?

I want to wear them for extra protection and also since I bought them, I might as well use them.

I figured it would not be an issue because it’s extra protection for my elbows and extra protection for my sparring partner so they don’t hurt themselves on my exposed elbows. I don’t plan to throw elbows though

Book on Strategies and Tactics in Muay Thai?

I’m looking if there is a book out there that details more advanced strategies and tactics when it comes to fighting in MT?

What I mean by strategies and tactics is like how to fight certain styles, how to manage stamina, what mindsets to have etc

To those who own a car, do you ever use Grab for transportation?

As title says, I’m curious to those who have a car but still choose to use Grab every now and then.

Personally me, I use my car if it’s nearby and has parking. However I sometimes use Grab if it’s quite far and parking is difficult.

PSA: DAZN removed Glory Kickboxing from its streaming for some reason

Just bought my subscription to watch Glory on DAZN, only to find that Glory does not exist anymore on the program despite being the false ad that says they have Glory. What a scam, trying to find a way to get refunded.

Just a warning to others out there, even though it advertises that they have Glory, they don't.

When the coach says to do 10 minutes of jump rope for the warmup, am I supposed to be jumping rope for 10 minutes straight?

As title says, sometimes my coach will ask the class to do 10 minutes of jump rope before class. I’m not sure what exactly what is expected when he says this. I tried to do 10 minutes of constant jump roping and I can’t do it. I’m pretty damn fit and I can go several rounds of padwork or sparring, no problem. However I can only manage say around 1 minute or around 30 reps before I have to catch my breath. The other students also cannot do this task. Coach doesn’t seem so upset though that we can’t do it straight.

So yeah my question is, what does a Muay Thai coach expect when he says we should do jump ropes for a certain amount of time? Does he expect us to jump rope straight til time ends? Or does he just expect to just do as much as we can in the time period?

Besides head shots, when should I go for body shots or leg kicks?

So of course, we all target the head but my question is what is the reasoning to choose one over the other? My concern is that I feel that it would be better to focus on one or the other rather than spreading your attacks between the legs and body.

From experience, leg kicks are better against fast elusive opponents to slow down them down. Body shots are better against static or forward moving opponents. In addition, leg kicks seem more effective against same stance opponents while body kicks are better against opposite stance opponents.

What are your thoughts and opinions?

How do I remove the yellow prints from my Muay Thai shorts?

So I just bought these shorts and I love them. I love the blue camo design but I’m not a fan of the yellow prints.

Is there a way I can hide, remove, or even recolor the yellow print to black print?

Injured my friend’s ACL in sparring. He has a grade 2 ACL tear, can he come back to Muay Thai?

My friend and I have been doing Muay Thai for years. We’ve sparred consistently so we are used to each other.

In our last sparring. He threw a rear kick which I caught with my lead hand. My friend tries to hop on his 1 leg in order to maintain his balance. Unfortunately, when he tried to hop on his 1 leg (left leg), he heard a pop and then collapsed on the ground. My friend immediately knew it was his ACL. We stopped our session and he ended up doing an MRI the next day.

The MRI showed a grade 2 ACL tear which means it wasn’t a complete tear but still some of the ligament is torn. Ironically, doctor told him that even though Muay Thai caused the injury, MT is also the reason why his leg muscles are very strong which mitigated the damage to his knee. Fortunately also, according to the doctor, my friend doesn’t need surgery but needs to do PT.

I felt quite relieved that my friend doesn’t need surgery but also felt terrible this injury happened. I apologized to my friend and he was cool about it. He tells me it was an accident and part of the art. Surprisingly, he says he still wants to get back to MT which honestly makes me happy that he doesn’t want to give up a fantastic art.

I guess my question is now what would his return to MT look like? Can he even go back to MT without surgery? How long will his recovery be before he can even do kicks? Etc

I do Muay Thai 2x a week. Suggest me a weekly callisthenics routine that builds physique and strength

So I do Muay Thai 2x a week. I thought that MT alone would build my physique which it did but I find my upper body lacking. I want to incorporate callisthenics for physique and for strength.

So far, I’ve been doing basic callisthenics but I want a recommended weekly routine. I’m not sure also if I should do PPL or Upper/Lower split?

I’m willing to dedicate 3-4 days for calisthenics. However, I’m also willing to do 2 days if you can suggest a routine like that as well.

So I broke up with my ex over a year and a half ago and I was not over it. I would think about her constantly and I would fantasize about ways we could meet again and so on. I really loved her

However and I’m not proud of it but I sometimes check in on her social media. Recently, I just realized that she might be dating someone else at this point. I was heartbroken to realize this, it felt my heart got broken a 2nd time.

However, the feeling was bittersweet. Of course, it’s bitter to know that someone you think about constantly is now with someone else. Thinking about someone that probably doesn’t think about you is degrading and pathetic for me. I felt like a loser when I realized this

On the other hand, there was a sweet feeling in that I felt liberated. For that year and a half, I refused to move on because I kept thinking about her. Now though after finding out about the other guy, this felt like a wake up call to move on. If she can move on like that, then so can I.

I’ve decided to hide the gifts she gave me and also would never check her social media again. Like mentioned, this all feels like breaking up all over again, only now that I realized it’s probably truly over between me and her. I’m heartbroken once more but this time I’m making the effort to move on.

Share your thoughts on my situation and tell me also at what point did you decide to move on from your ex?
