is it healthy going back to an addiction if that means finally ending ties with it properly?

I've been still thinking about my past addiction. I've ended it once before and not once have I attempted to go back, it was only until a traumatic event occurred I went back to the addiction to simply help myself ignore what I needed to move away from.

Then simply put it, when I tried to leave afterwards, I couldn't. It wasn't like before where I'd just walk away, nah, it'd still be on my mind. And unlike before, I had a void in me that I didn't feel beforehand, it made me struggle with feeling the emotions i would usually feel.

It left me feeling hollow, like there was something missing. I try getting into a repetitive lifestyle to help fill in the void, but nothing really works, it only just fills it in for a short while.

This all got me wondering if it's ok if I went back and tried to somewhat replicate what I did at first.

I dno, I've been trying to think of a way and this just feels like something better than waiting and waiting until something happens.
