The face you make when you realize your plan was stupid and hinged on a turncloak showing up for a battle

Seriously this dude trapped his army in a town, and ultimately bet everything on being able to sway a single guy to fight for him.

“Oh you want to betray Daemon for slapping you around? Well I’m sure you wont betray me for doing the same.”

James was phenomenal all season as Ormund but you cant tell me this wasnt an absolutely braindead plan.

Why doesn’t Ormund just have Rhaenyra assassinated?

Or Daemon. He seems virtually omnipotent with his cell of assassins that could literally be the Faceless Men for all we know, and he knew exactly where Corlys was even though he should have been at least like several hundred miles from Tumbleton.

Like truly it’s reminding me of Ramsay so much with how effective Ormunds spies are and how everything hes doing is going almost perfectly. He basically dismantles the Gold Cloaks in what feels like a couple months at most. Probably less, hard to tell with this show.

So if it was all so easy I feel like he should be able to get some men to ambush Daemon at least. Or get someone to work in the Red Keep so they can slay Rhaenyra. I’ve enjoyed Ormund but it feels weird how easy and hyper-effective his efforts have actually been.

Also lets not forget he as access to a teleporting henchman in Jon Roxton

Team Green is back

The GOAT Tyland showing up like Obi-wan Kenobi to aid Aegon in his hour of greatest need definitely was a pleasant surprise. One of the few changes im actually happy with. I just hope he doesn’t immediately leave them to go to Casterly Rock or something.

Edit: my apologies for not having a spoiler tag initially

Daemon will defend Rhaena

I think with everyone wary of Rhaena and her dragon, Daemon will take her to help her train with Sheepstealer. Obviously he will lament Jaces death but also eager to help Rhaena. So instead of whatever happened with Nettles, we basically get these two bonding a bit and him helping her get a handle on her dragon.

Im assuming he doesnt want to risk her death at Aemonds hands and thats why she eventually leaves him to face Vhagar alone. Maybe she ends up flying south to help Addam against the turncloaks. Idk.

She definitely pissed me off this last episode but id like to see her grow from it at least.

S3 E1 *Heavy Spoilers*

Well it’s here. The supposedly largest battle ever put to television that looked like it was between 30 ships and 3 dragons. Im curious who else here was underwhelmed. So much CGI hiding fog. Best part of the battle was Corlys actually showing us for one why hes a great sailor at least. Now the six winners and losers from tonight:

Jace: The Casualty. (RIP). He did his best and his loss is definitely a blow to Rhaenyra. While they removed him trying to save his younger brother, they at least used large bolts to bring his dragon down and given how small his dragon is, it makes sense he has to fly low to get close to use dragonfire. Also Vermax’s little spinmove to avoid Sheepthief was pretty cool.

He was right to imprison his useless mother and save her life as she would definitely have gotten herself killed.

Tyland: The GOAT. Gave sound advice the entire episode that went ignored. Acted as the Kings representative and did his best to get the bungler to fight in a rational and pragmatic way.

Lohar: Captain Tunnel-Vision. Hated this character. Not even really TG, but just an asshole who betrayed Tyland and got all her men killed. Her shooting Vermax at least wasnt as bullshit as Fake Euron’s aimbot shooting but I’m happy to see this character go.

Alyn: The Steadfast. He got rid of Lohar and took charge when Corlys was wigging out. And im glad he and Corlys were not talking on a dock this time.

Rhaena: The Inept. My god the writers must really hate her, want us to hate her, or both. To think Corlys likely lost a massive chunk of his fleet to her is kind of hilarious but also kind of irritating. Friendly fire (pun intended) just makes her look like a clown. Her begging her dragon to listen, screaming in terror as she rode on Sheepthiefs back just made her look so weak and unfit to be a rider. Nettles please appear and snatch that dragon from her!

Alicent: The Turncloak (she doesnt get a picture). What is with the writers having all the female characters be traitors or commit friendly fire this episode? I suppose you could see her trying to get Aemond to flee and Ormund to stay away from KL as an attempt to save their lives, but she is also clearly trying to make it easy for Rhaenyra to take Kings Landing. Daemon should be the one who gets the gates open, not Alicent. I hate that I hate this character because I adore her book counterpart.

Overall 3/10 episode for me. I could go on but I’m more interested to hear your thoughts on the episode.

Edit: as someone pointed out, Alicent likely knew the Dragonseed were waiting for Aemond at Harrenhal so fuck that traitor doubly now.
