What is wrong with my peppers?

Hi!

I sprouted some shishito from seed and planted them in grow bags. I also have a couple manganji peppers and a ghost pepper that I overwintered. I am in a subtropical climate that is pretty humid.

So I’ve been noticing that my pepper plants have really deformed new growth. After some research I thought it might be broad mites, so I started spraying sulfur once a week. I’ve sprayed three times and did notice some improvements, but I also spray neem in between my sulfur sprays (I don’t mix them). Please help me identify what is wrong with my pepper plants. I thought the leaf damage looked more like broad mites but then I also saw some white bugs on two of my plants as well (see image). I can’t tell if it’s broad mites that is my problem or perhaps something like aphids? Eitherway I just sprinkled diatomaceous earth on my plants after seeing the white bugs. This is so frustrating!!!!!! Please help me. Thanks you so much!!!!!!

Hi!

So I bottled up my 1f after six days when it still tasted on the sweet side but definitely like kombucha. My starter was very active. I probably could have given it more time but I was a little impatient and thought that the sweetness would help with 2f carbonation. I bottled in 1L flip top grolsch bottles.

However it’s been 4 days and I’m not seeing any bubbles in my bottles. Does that mean it’s not carbonated? Should I let it go for a couple more days or should I give up and refrigerate them? I filled the bottles up and left one inch of headspace and each bottle got only 1tsp of cane sugar since the kombucha itself tasted sweet still. 20-25C temp.

Thanks!

Hi!

I began my second batch of kombucha less than 24hrs ago. Same master recipe adjusted for 10L (2.6 gallons). However, I didn’t have enough cane sugar so I substituted 25% with muscovado sugar (like a type of dark dark brown sugar) since I read here that it should be fine. In less than 24 hrs, I am seeing A LOT of bubbles (see pic), def more than my first batch. It’s literally almost to the top of the vessel. Does anyone here have experience brewing with muscovado or a similar type of sugar? What should I be expecting in terms of fermentation and flavor? Thanks!

Hi!

I just brewed my first ever batch. I brewed with just starter liquid (no pellicle). I used the master recipe on Reddit and let it go for 6 days before bottling. I am slightly concerned because in six days the pellicle formed and grew to be this thick — about half an inch/ 1cm. I also used a large vessel (12L/ ~3gallon) so the it’s large in diameter too. I have been seeing on Reddit that it normally takes longer for the pellicle to grow thick and was wondering if this could be a concerning sign regarding fermentation speed or if I should perhaps adjust the recipe? The pellicle looks fine otherwise. No sign of kham or mold. Thank you so much!
