While camping, pulling my travel trailer, coming into campgrounds with no lighting, dark roads that are poorly marked, I could not see well enough. In fact, I got out of my truck a few times with a flashlight to confirm I was still on a road. I'm not saying the stock lights are not good, they are very good, for on road driving, but they lack what is needed for off road or poor roads often found in campsites. To improve this situation, I did a lot of search. This led me to purchasing and installing Auxbeam SK-80 Switch Panel and Auxbeam V-Ultra 3 inch Pod Lights in a "ditch light" configuration. Meaning, mounting them forward of the windshield near the front of the "A" pillar. I used brackets that were design to be used with my truck. They attach using the nuts and stud that attach the hood hings. This made for a sturdy light attachment.
At first, I wasn't sure if I would like the SK-80 Switch Controller or the V-Ultra pod lights. I'm happy to say I like both the lights and the controller. The pod lights are the exact amount of light I had hoped. The controller has a feature that is very cool. The multi-function knob on the front of the control panel can control the brightness of the LEDs. There are 6 levels of brightness. The only thing about the V-Ultra lights I would like to see change, would be a way to turn off the side shoot LEDs. The side that faces the inside shine into the window. I put black tape over them, but I don't expect this to be the long term fix. It would be nice if Auxbeam would have a way to do this. Maybe as simple as a shade that could be screwed on.
The install went well. I really like the KS-80 panel with its knob for adjusting light output level. The V-Ultra pod lights are well made and seem to have enough light.

This shows the Auxbeam KS-80 Switch Controller in the engine compartment of a 2023 GMC Sierra Denali 1500 truck with a Duramax 3.0L diesel. One of the best features of this unit, it has a knob that allows adjustment of a number of features. My personal favorite, dimming of the V-Ultra 3 inch light pods.
