AITA for not bringing back a gift?
I am a female (not going to say my age but early teens) went to NYC for winter break with my stepmom, two sisters, two cousins, and aunt (all on my stepmoms side). We went for 2 days in total. I had know about this a year before it was going to happen so I saved up about $200-$300 so I could spend some money there. The day came that we were going to leave and my mom said “get me something while you are there”. I just responded with ok. We got there and I had to give my stepmom $100 for the hotel/gas money. I was fine with that since I still had $200 left. We got there at night so we went to a mall in New jersey but I didn’t get anything from there. Yeah it was really cool but nothing I saw there I thought was worthy enough to get. We got to the hotel at went to bed. The next morning we went to NYC. We walked around and went to the M&M, American girl doll, I ❤️NY, and Disney store. I was just having fun and spending time with family so I got a sweatshirt I planed on sharing with my mom M&Ms cause I was hungry and a NYC keychain. That all totaled to like $50 I think. I honestly don’t remember. We left that same day to go back home. It was just a short trip for fun and experience. On the way home we stopped at a Walgreens in New Jersey and I had said something along the lines of how funny it would be if it had a New Jersey sweatshirt in there. Long story short there was and I ended up getting it because I thought it was funny and it was cheep. We got home and I went over to my mom’s house. She asked me if I had fun the immediately asked if she got anything. I showed her what I got and then she yelled at me for not getting her anything calling me a brat and selfish?! She said I could at least had got her a keychain or postcard but that’s stupid?! Like I had no clue people got gifts for other people when going on trips? Yeah she did ask for one but we went to stores little kids would go ti for my sisters. And I had gotten us a shirt to share but she said she didn’t want it??! So I am really confused am I the a hole for not getting my mom a gift when going on a trip.
Ps: me and my mom went to Jamaica for a trip and she didn’t get anything for anyone so if she won’t do it for other people why should I get her one?
