Idli needs a loving home!

Idli was found crying outside our apartment with dog bite wounds. Even with a traumatic incident like that, he did not stop being friendly and interacted with all the residents passing by asking for help. Even though we did not have capacity to adopt a new cat (we had 2 at that time), we took him in and cared for him. He has been with us for over 2 years now. We had put him up for adoption back then, but I guess he was meant to live with us for a while.

But time did it's thing and I am leaving Bangalore to go to my hometown due to a personal emergency and I won't be back for a while. My 2 friends are already looking after 4 other cats (including Mosaru, who needs regular medical attention).Though Idli has my heart, it is my responsibility to find a loving home for him.

He is ginger but has no traits of a typical ginger.

He is friendly, playful, and not very mischievous. He gets along with our cats and plays with them.

As a bonus, he will sleep next to you as your pillow!

We have tried to find a home for him with other people in our circle, but we haven't found any takers. But if we dont find a home soon, we will sadly have to put him in a shelter which breaks my heart. He has never caused any issues and loves to play and will absolutely light up your lives.

Even if you are in no position to adopt him, we would really appreciate it if you could atleast share this post with someone who needs Idli in their lives.

Location: Bengaluru, Karnataka

Gender and Age: Male. Estimated around 3 - 4 years old

Status: Vaccinated, Neutered,

Temperament: Friendly with humans and other cats

Mosaru is a rescue we picked up about 4 months ago after a bad territorial fight. Chances of recovery looked slim, but he fought and survived. He recovered, but things didn’t really stabilize after that.

Since then, he’s been dealing with recurring respiratory issues, breathing difficulty, mucus discharge, infections that keep coming back. We’ve been doing regular vet visits, nebulization, meds, just trying to keep things under control.

Recently, things escalated. He’s now been diagnosed with FIP and FIV. For context, FIV is essentially the feline equivalent of HIV.

Despite that, Mosaru doesn’t behave like a “sick” cat. Even on his worst days, he still moves around, responds, seeks affection. That’s the only reason we’re still pushing this hard, because he clearly hasn’t given up

He was initially admitted at Cessna. The recommended tratment was the experimental BASMI protocol. Since it has hard to import this medication and Cessna didn't have it, we had to move him to Dr Paws. He was admitted for almost a week. He is responding to the treatment. He’s actually showing improvement right now, which is not something we expected this early. But we still have a long way to go, as BASMI is an experimental drug with 84 days long course.

This journey hasn't been cheap. Between diagnostics (blood work, X-rays, ultrasounds), hospitalisation, and treatment, we’ve already spent over ₹1,00,000. And the ongoing treatment will continue to be expensive.

Currently there are 3 of us sharing the responsibility of taking care of Mosaru. We’re not stepping back from his treatment, we’ll continue covering it.

But if anyone wants to support us or even just understand the situation in detail, we’re sharing everything transparently:

We’re not trying to sell a miracle story. We know what the odds are with FIP + FIV. This is just us trying to give him a fair shot at a few good years instead of giving up early.

If you’ve dealt with FIP cases before, or have experience with long-term care in similar situations, we’re open to inputs as well.
