Old Zenith motor is slow

Title. This is a Zenith Allegro system from the early 70s, so I am certain my issue is due to aging hardware. It’s never really been consistent but now it’s just straight up slow. Any ideas on where I should go for parts/repair?

Would it be possible to fill in these areas for a proper 3d marketplace?

been playing around with disabling 2d pre-rendered scenes and found out you could use those areas as if it were a normal 3d map, if you want to reproduce it I think it’s just disabling that. Would it be possible to fill in these blank areas with a 3d texture pack and possibly some form of map editing? Sorry for lack of screenshots new pc don’t have WiFi yet.

First PC build, not sure about hardware and Linux distro

Title. I’ve gotten an old Dell Optiplex 7040 Small form factor pc that I’m using as a base, right now it’s a basic office pc. It runs windows 10 pro at the moment. I want to use Linux because I hate windows but I’m unsure of what distro would be best for a beginner and best for my hardware. I’ve heard Mint and Ubuntu are the best options for a beginner. My current hardware is as follows:

Intel Core i5 3.2ghz

4gb ddr4 ram

Intel HD graphics (128mb vram)

so its pretty bad rn. I’m ordering parts at the moment. I’m keeping the cpu for now, getting 16 gb of ddr4 and an RTX 3050 lp graphics card. If something there won’t work pls let me know i really have no idea what I’m doing. Thank you in advance for any help!

Edit: forgot to add this but Im not planning on doing modern AAA gaming I literally only play Skyrim

Laptop is hotter after replacing thermal paste

I have a superbly shit HP that I use for school and light gaming. About a week ago I was messing around with it and accidentally pulled the heatsync off, no big deal just replace the thermal paste and move on. I applied it well I think, I used the Arctic MX-4 paste in case that’s important. I covered the whole cpu in a thin layer and then mounted the heatsync. After doing this, the bottom of my laptop has been a bit hotter than before, and more spread out across where the heatsync is. It performs fine for being a shit laptop, I don’t think it’s overheating.

Is this possibly an issue or should I just leave it? I’m really just concerned about it melting the battery cause its pretty close to the heatsync.
