Before I ditch 365... Any advice or fixes?

Before I ditch 365... Any advice or fixes?

I'm talking single user frustrations and very small business. Not enterprise.

  1. Outlook app on Android calendar view shows dots on days that do not have any events. It appears to show event dots on the day before. For all day events.
  2. Rules configured on any thick client are only for that client. Have to reconfigure them on each device. Or attempt to use web client to setup rules. I've found web client setup does not filter down to thick clients well.
  3. Emails seem to take a long time to show up. Frequently have to do multi-factor and codes can sometimes take 3-10 minutes to arrive. Rarely experience this on my "throw-away" Gmail account.

Aside from these issues... I find myself wondering what value I'm getting out of a rather expensive yearly subscription?

Red arrow points to the DOT i'm talking about. The green arrows are pointing to where the actually events are scheduled. The 8th has NO event. The 9th has an event. The 4th has no event, the 5th has an event.

The 14th has no event, the 15th has an event.

The DOT is showing up on the day BEFORE the event takes place. It's almost as if the code sees "All Day" and whatever times they are using behind the scenes (none are shown when you toggle "All Day" is causing the dot to show up on the previous day?

Using Unifi Drive, is there any way to have users access vis WEB interface only?

Basically, is there a combination of settings or setup that can give a users access to Unifi Drive space, via ONLY the web interface?

The goofy user invite that sends out an email, doesn't create a real user or any sort of login, and requires them to download the app locally is not what I'm trying to do.

I feel like my $1000's in Ubiquiti equipment should be able to accomplish giving my friend limited access to my large storage device without having to download or install a bunch of junk?

PSA: Removing a company name and logo from top of your profile

Took me longer than it should have to figure this out, and all the search results I found on the topic were wrong. Maybe there are different profile types or older profiles have different configurations?

In any case, I had to do the following:

  1. Make the company you want to remove an ACTIVE position
  2. Save and refresh the browser page
  3. Edit your profile card (intro)
  4. There should be a drop-down list that has the company name in it. Select the "Please Select" option, effectively blanking it out
  5. Save and refresh the browser

It should be gone now!

Search results talking about toggle switches and such do not exist on my profile nor do they exist on 4 profiles of friends and family that I consulted with before posting here.

Looking for detailed guide on what features to turn off

I'd be surprised if the watch had NO features to turn off, no apps to uninstall, that would otherwise improve battery life.

Basic searching on the internet talks about turning airplane mode on, and other (I'd call) stupid recommendations.

I'm hoping there are some guides out there talking about how to turn off AI features (that I assume a lot of people aren't using).

I've done similar exercises with my phones over the years. So many features/functions that vast majority of people aren't using but continue to run on these devices and eat up battery for no reason!

Frustrating issue with new monitors - "Out of bounds"

TL;DR = Was using two (basically the same) ASUS 144hz monitors, no HDR support. Basically no issues with them at all. Swapped out one of them for a new MSI QD-OLED that is running 240hz w/ HDR enabled. Now, it's quite common if I walk way and my monitors go to sleep that I can't get 1 or both of them to come back online.

Plugging and unplugging them might wake them up. If I can get one to come up, telling windows to only use a single display, then switch back to extended will fix it till the next sleep session.

It's not EVERY time. I walked away this morning, came back to black monitors, tapped my keyboard to wake it up and everything was fine.

If I had to guess, this seems like an issue with Windows 11, where they released an update that puts your program windows back on the proper monitor screen. Prior to that update (a few years back I believe?) if your monitors got shut off, your programs would all bunch up on the main display vs going back to where they were. It feels like as a result of this, and some combination of my new monitor setup.... it can't restore both displays properly and requires juggling them on and off.

Wheel sitting in garage for over a year, any concerns?

One of my wheels (v13) has been sitting in garage for over a year I think? I haven't ridden it in a very long time.

I'll add, I don't live in AZ or other ultra dry climates. While the wheel hasn't been exposed to water, I'm sure our garage has high humidity frequently throughout the year. Properly designed/sealed equipment and electronics shouldn't have a problem... All our power tools and such are in there year around and have never noticed a problem.

I just fired it up, battery listed 93% and tire feels pretty solid.

Wheel has low miles.

Is there anything I should be concerned about if I wanted to ride it? Anything I should do or check? (other than tire pressure and charge levels)

Looking for suggestions on mixing my PC and Mac life!

I use PC (Windows) for personal and my work provides Mac.

I have two main problems I haven't been able to solve and would love some help or suggestions!

  1. I'd like to use my home office setup which is connected to my Windows desktop for my work mac WITHOUT having to hard disconnect everything. I haven't found a reliable DOCK solution that lets me share my displays, keyboard, mouse, and audio with both machines.

I need to maintain access to my PC setup as I use remote desktop to access VM's and other devices/servers frequently.

I think a quality (likely expensive) KVM / Dock is the solution however from what I've tested so far they struggle with Display Port / high refresh rate displays that have modern functionality. Some KVM/Docks claim to have emulation functionality to prevent displays from thinking they've been completely disconnected but it seems spotty a best from my testing.

  1. My primary keyboard (and mouse) is Windows based, so it doesn't have a Command key. I followed instructions to configure the "Modifier Keys" and set Command to be Control. I did this for BOTH keyboards (the built-in one and my external one). It doesn't work for either. Holding "CTRL + C" does not copy highlighted text if using the laptop keyboard OR the external keyboard.

Trend towards NO PoB and instead website-only build guides?!

Is it just me, or do others notice a trend towards creators "joining" excusive site membership programs (Moba, Maxroll, Icy, etc)... Putting their build guide(s) together on those sites and offering no PoB option.

I realize they want more money in addition to the views they get on YouTube videos and Twitch streaming... But at what cost? The long-time serious gamers and fans of these games aren't likely to put up with using a 3rd party site that has NOWHERE NEAR the functionality of PoB.

Newbie players really appreciate the ease of reading the online build sites, so I'm not saying they should go away.... But the trend I'm noticing of having no way to get them imported into PoB (unless I'm missing something?) isn't a good sign....

Why so much drama everywhere?

Only recently became aware of drama in a private community I have had access to for some 10-15 years? I have a job and all the other things in life so I don't browser private forums or reddit posts much at all...

Now that I've gone down this rabbit hole, it seems like a widespread issue with mods, site owners, tracker owners, and all other related people arguing, fighting, and blaming each other for various scams constantly.

Is there nowhere left that this isn't a problem?

Fast Travel - Why do they force you to memorize location names?

Am I missing something? Why can't we select fast travel locations using the already available map? Instead I'm forced to use this stupid list with tabs and location names.

When I stop playing for a few days/weeks, I already don't have everywhere memorized... let alone if I've taken a break for a bit.

To make it worse, if you do open the map, highlight a location, the game (to my knowledge) doesn't provide you any information that you could use to then find that location in the fast travel interface. The names don't line up.... if they even have a name in the first place.

Again, I might be missing something here but the system seems beyond stupid. It should just pop-up the already available map and let you select the unlocked point you want to travel to...
