One of my favourite movie monsters and that's not something I say lightly. I was going off memory mostly, I got a lot of things wrong, it's not even close to that hauntingly horrifying creature but it kind of works as a rotten zombie bear thing and I'm happy with how it turned out regardless. This was my first time using green stuff, it's so much fun! C&C welcome.
One of my most replayed single player-focused games in recent years, finally got around to beating it on grounded with no cheating. Going for a permadeath run next, MIGHT attempt grounded permadeath depending how masochistic I'm feeling.
Wonderful game however you play it. More controversial than the first one but no less great in my opinion.
Context: I've done a bunch of knights, a couple of dreadnoughts and Vashtorr, and I'd argue this little guy was the hardest to paint. Smaller models intimidate me but I challenged myself anyway, 1 down 4 to go. I'm aware I have a LOT to get better at, C&C welcome nonetheless.
Sorry about the terrible before photo, forgot to take a better one. Same model ~9 months apart. I dunno if I'm "improving" exactly or just getting more creative and more efficient. There's still some annoying gaps to fill in but he's looking a bit scarier now haha.
Destriers are quite popular among the giant robot people right now but I ended up doing something a bit different with mine. I spent about 3 weeks on the model, the base and the base for the base. I'm still relatively new to the hobby, made a few mistakes, still have a lot to get better at but I'm really very happy with how it turned out.
His name is Pete if you were wondering. He looks scary but he's generally quite friendly. He does get a bit mad when people throw plastic on his dump and he's there to discourage anyone from doing so, unless an even bigger knight or a titan shows up.
I was so enjoying the "ancient filthy machine rises from a pile of junk" theme that I did that I wanted to expand on it some more. There's more work to do but thought I'd share.
I had some spare parts but a lot of it is literal junk. Sprue, old plumbing pipes, washers, thread bobbins, rocks from the garden, bits of crap I don't even know the origin of. Yes r/poorhammer know about it haha. The knight is detachable but I want to make some modular parts to hide the gap around the base, I did make a cutout but it's still there.
I know they could use some mechanicus crests to really sell it, but this being r/poorhammer I hope no one will mind. It's a small diorama for my converted chaos destrier, I already did a giant robot's graveyard theme for the base and wanted to expand on it a bit more. There's a way to go before it's ready for painting but I'm quite pleased with how it's turning out
I just call him Rusty Pete 😄
When I bought him I had no intention of doing a chaos conversion, then a knife accident happened in the early stages and I kind of took it as an omen. This is my 11th(?) model and I still have a lot to get better at but I'm really pleased with how he turned out.
I used polyfilla for the heavy corrosion. It probably goes by various brand names around the world, it's a paste/cement stuff for filling small holes in walls. I've heard of it being used as a cheap basing material but it's really quite versatile. Painted it with a vallejo burnt red/burnt umber mix for a realistic rusty base coat, then a generous splash of nuln oil to fill in the gaps, then a few brighter green/orange/yellow highlights. I maybe could have gone to down a bit more with the highlights but I was going for an extreme filthy dingy look and I think I pulled it off quite well.
The big spikes are indeed carpet nails. Don't grab him from above!
I had a pretty nasty accident with my hobby knife in the early stages, lots of blood, took it as an omen to do a chaos conversion! There's a way to go before he's ready for painting but I'm pleased with how he's turning out. Yes I'm sub-assembling.
I'm probably preaching to the choir but please be careful with sharp tools everyone. And know when to call it a day/night, doing things when you're tired leads to mistakes.
Cool little game but I'm having real trouble with this particular mechanic, and I reached the chapter 7 boss which seems to test your chainsaw climbing skills. Am I supposed to look in the direction I want to jump or not? I swear I'm pressing the same buttons but P keeps jumping in different directions each time.
