I finished this guy but I feel like the yellow is distracting.

Finished this guy in the style I've been working on. There is so much I love about it, but I kinda hate the yellow. I feel like it's distracting from the awesome skin and other fun details. Thoughts?

Before and after adding Malignant Green Speed Paint over the top. Thoughts?

I have been developing my skin recipe and my latest way of doing it is this olive green block shading with malignant green over it when I'm done. The idea being I get this kinda glowy green. But, now I'm wondering if I should skip that last step and instead do just the paint layers... maybe making the original paint job more limey than olive.

Thoughts? Which do you prefer?

My husband's first minis!

My husband and I recently started Warhammer 40k with the Armageddon box. He is building a Dark Angels army. He has never painted minis before, and these are his first ones! I think he did a great job.

My first of many ork boyz

I used the slapchop method, which was nice and quick. I'll probably go back in and add some details, but overall, I'm pretty happy with my first boy.

My ex has been out of my life for a year and still managed to make me rage cry today.

TLDR: I finally opened a box of cookbooks I had packed a few years ago during a break-up only to find my AH ex had gotten into the box, taken all the most sentimental ones, and left me me with 2 she had given me and 1 I wrote. Then filled the rest of the box with empty sketchbooks.

Fuller story...

I was with my ex-wife for 13 years of insane mental and emotional abuse. She cut me off from my family, made me keep an insanely clean house, berated me, called me disgusting, locked me out of our bedroom as a punishment, and regularly got rid of or destroyed things that were meaningful to me. And that's just some of it.

We divorced 3 years ago, and 1 year ago, I remarried to a wonderful man who treats me very well. At the same time, I sold the house that I had bought with my ex previously. I had been living there after she moved out. Once the house was sold, I was able to block my ex completely on all platforms, and I felt I was finally done. She could never hurt me again.

When we split, we divided and packed up our extensive library. We agreed that because I love cooking and she hates it. I would get all the cookbooks. They were mostly all mine anyway and a lot of them sentimental.

So today, I finally go to unpack my cookbooks, excited to put them on the shelf I cleared. In the box were only 3 of my cookbooks. 2 she gave me and one I wrote myself. The rest of the box was full of empty sketch books.

The cookbook my late grandma gave me when I was 12, gone. My cookie bible is gone. The canning journal my family passed down to me, gone. And so many more. Cookbooks that were dogeared, had notes in them, and were well loved.

A blow she fired off years ago and felt today. I was supposed to be safe now. She wasn't supposed to be able to take anything else away from me. I know hate a strong word. I know we're supposed to forgive people, but wtf, why?? Why do this to someone. I am a great cook, so no, I don't need them, but I had hoped to pass some of them on, and they were full of a lot of memories.
