I have a 2018 Q7. I’ve noticed this sound, I am not sure if it is the timing chain rattle or some other thing.
I hear it on start up and there has been maybe 1-2 times where I hear it at idle when the car is warmed up.
I haven’t been able to find a good video that also shows what the timing chain rattle sounds like

Coming from a 2009 BMW 328i with 250k miles this is for sure an upgrade lol, hopefully this Q7 can hit 200k miles too!
I have created a maintenance schedule sheet and am thinking of taking care of the PCV valve, water pump, and thermostat preemptively along with all overdue maintenance since I’m at 80k miles.
So I was replacing the valve cover gasket and the one time I forget/don’t think to cover the air inlet pipe to the turbo a clip fell in…. I think. I am not 100% sure if it actually fell in there. I took the pipe off and it was empty and turned the turbo by hand and didn’t hear any noise or scratching.
Before I took the inlet off I put a borescope camera in the pipe and I could’ve sworn I saw it. But is it likely it would’ve made it past the turbo fan?
