AeroWings - the game I always wanted as a kid, but I'm glad I didn't waste my limited money back then

It's just not a very good game, unfortunately.

I remember always seeing it at the top of game lists or retail shelves, especially cheat websites like GameWinners, but that was only because they were in alphabetical order.

I was (and still kinda am) obsessed with airplanes so AeroWings' case always caught my eye.

The game is somewhat visually impressive, particularly the draw distance. Otherwise, the game just totally sucks and honestly isn't worth playing at all... bummer.

Glad I got AirForce Delta instead!

Since GTA6 likely won't be coming to PC for 12-18 months... what are some other releases to look forward to?

All the recent GTA6 leak hype has reminded me that Rockstar still targets consoles for their initial launch.

PC gamers can expect a release drought this holiday season. What are some decent games coming out this year or early next year that you're looking forward to?

I'm excited for Ace Combat 8!

Green beans in fried rice? Yay or Nay?

I believe that green beans do not belong in fried rice of any kind.

In desperate times I've used those frozen "mixed vegetable" bags that contain carrots, peas, corn, and green beans.

I have nothing against green beans in other dishes or on their own, I love them. However, I think green beans absolutely ruin a good fried rice.

The corn is also somewhat questionable, but it's not as offensive as green beans.

What say thee? To green or not to green? (bean)

Reduce GrassValley camera noise LD86 XS

I work frequently with GrassValley LDX 86 XS cameras, often in quite low light events.

I find myself adding over 6 dB of gain to give my operators a bit more focus range at the end of their lens. These are slow-mo cameras (359fps) with 77x+ box lenses that eat up all my f-stops.

I know the gain adds visual noise, but the cameras really need the boost. I'm running them in "High Q" mode. I've also tried lifting the gamma values, but that still doesn't impact the noise.

I've used the "noise slice" detail function, which somewhat works at high values over 30pts, but it adds this distracting smeary/unsharp look over the camera image. I just hate how it looks and I think my camera operators do as well. The snowy/noisy/grainy image is even more noticeable when shown in replays.

Is there some trick/setting I'm missing here to give these cameras a boost? Are they just shitty low-light cameras?

Finally decided to start collecting after 20+ years. Recent pickups!

I'm probably gonna go with Soul Calibur being the best game in this bunch.

Official Dreamcast Magazine demo disc childhood collection

I'm not sure which discs I'm missing. I believe I had more, but these are the copies that have survived to still be in my collection.

I think the first one is most memorable. Probably because I didn't have many games to play yet so I played these demo discs on repeat.

The elaborate-clunky machine game select menu screen is iconic.

Sonic Adventure whale chase. I already had that game. Fun to play that level on the demo disc, though!

Certainly went to pick up Power Stone right away. I played the House of the Dead 2 demo on loop, but never bought the game. Same with Ready 2 Rumble.

I also bought Hydro Thunder. There is a trailer for the game on the disc.

Photo that I allegedly got signed by B-2 pilots back at a 1990s Whiteman AFB event

What do you think? I'm not entirely certain it was at Whiteman AFB, but that's an event I went to frequently as a child.

I cannot recognize the signatures. They may be entirely irrelevant to the photo.

Picked up this bundle. Mostly wanted Soul Calibur, but the others look interesting.

I am expanding my current selection of games. The seal has been broken.

Typical no plate Altima activities

I knew they were gonna do that... Exactly who you expected to be driving too. Also the Jeep getting pulled was dumbass. They were going 35mph in a 55mph and then stopped in the road instead of the shoulder.

The Biden and Trump presidencies have proven that the job is easy and unserious

You can be senile, corrupt, weird, crude, indecisive, a liar, contradictory...

Doesn't matter. The establishment will prop you up despite overwhelming evidence that you are incompetent.

Even foreign nations will largely play along with the antics.

And that streams to my other opinion. Never resign or drop out. Things that were previously considered career ending can be easily survived.

Just ignore, deflect and deny until the public gives up. They eventually will. The general public's attention span is lower than ever. They'll quickly move on to the next outrage, the allegations don't matter. Quitting is an admission of guilt in the eyes of the public.

How many (Rocket) hours did you play last season? What rank did you make it to?

I essentially only play Rocket, as you can see. Made it to GM 3 this time.

11.6hrs and 58 matches.

Redemption. Orlando.

Went to Joji in Denver a few years ago. It was meh. My wife and I both felt the same.

Just saw Joji in Orlando. Amazing. So good. Everything we wanted.

Go see him. You deserve it.

Realistic scale for sequel? 2077 Night City is only 1/4 the size of the canon city.

Something no open world game has managed is creating a convincing, realistic scale. Night City is impressive, but it feels way too small. It should be more sprawling and more vertically weaved as well.

Disclaimer, I used some AI images at the end to generate a more authentic scale Night City-ish. Honestly, it was kinda fun tailoring the prompts to roughly look like the game city.

Confirmed: Cutscenes will not feature paid cosmetics

The most recent Q&A addresses this.

Customizations will not be appearing in cutscenes.

Digital Foundry analyzed the pre-release version and found that they are pre-rendered.

Hopefully the full release will use real-time, in-engine cutscenes. However, this news will likely be upsetting to people excited to see their silly Chief skin in action.

Pre-rendered cutscenes in Halo remake

Halo: Campaign Evolved will have pre-rendered cutscenes and I find that rather unfortunate.

I've always been more impressed by games that use their own engine, in real-time, to present their cinematic moments.

Unreal Engine 5 is perfectly capable of running these cutscenes and making them visually stunning.

The Blur Studios recreations for Halo 2 were really cool to see, but I still prefer the art and animation of the original version. It's not just more cohesive looking, but I appreciate the invisible technical work behind the artistry.

The Campaign Evolved remake cutscenes will be significantly less jarring (although your alternate skins/weapons won't appear in them).

I'm curious why Halo Studios decided against this longtime Halo practice of in-engine, real-time cutscenes.
