I'm nearly done with this project but one last thing is bugging me like crazy. The veneer edge is ALWAYS resulting in a dirty look. I sand with 400 grit and wipe with dry rag then wipe with mineral spirits. Let it dry then put down the poly. But the edge seems to dry differently than the rest every time. I am using a staining pad as an applicator. I'm using arm-r-seal oil Topcoat.

Trying to get close-ish to some shelves I picked up from a bookstore. I used Red Oak Plywood, Old Masters Golden Oak Wiping Stain and General Finishes Arm-R-Seal Satin Oil Topcoat. 3 coats later 72 hour dry time.

Probably good enough for my use case but the reason I don't like doing these types of projects is I am over critical. I think I did poorly removing some stain on some of these. And for the life of me some of them just don't feel as smooth as I'd expect. But ofc this is wood.. not glass is what I keep telling myself. Criticism welcome!
