Advice on new purchase.

Yesterday I thought an 03 Monte Carlo, first car purchase I’ve ever made/tried. Bought it from a well respected person and brought my step dad and one of his friends with me to the purchase. I just want to know what kind of suggestions any of you would have for future performance upgrades when I’m finished getting my ford exploder working again.

Best option for modifying and speed?

I’m sure a handful of yall saw the post I made some weeks back showing off a 97 civic I was going to buy for 1200, well I’m not going to buy it. I’m curious on whether I should look for a 25-26 hatchback hybrid, an older model (moms pushing the dealership option so no idea if I’ll even be able to buy an older model), or a 1.5L turbo option. I don’t know how easy it is to modify the hybrid, I don’t know much about cars in general. Just gonna pay a tuning shop to tune the engine and then a mod shop to put on some things. This will all be done way later down the road when my warranty expires. Just want opinions on which I should go for. I should also mention I don’t know how to drive manual and I’m not buying an si or type r until I learn how.

Do yall think this 97 ex is worth 1200? Seller has been my best friend since the 4th grade, and the car just needs an alternator, battery, some tune up stuff, and maybe a clutch fan. Which I’m doin all the work this weekend with my buddies dad, so that’s free labor (considering the price of the car)
