after 10+ years missing the blue build, i got to spend the day playing it...

and i've found i hate this playstyle now.

i mean, i'm sure i'm probably building it in the wrong order or playing it wrong due to all the years playing modern ezreal and having to reajust to classic league, but i just sucked for 5+ hours. of course, i had the time of my life, it felt like playing league for the first time again and for the first time in YEARS i had fun losing!

but i didn't have fun playing my beloved blue build.

and then i decided to do that thing where you play every color of ezreal, well, at least the ones i remember weren't meme levels of garbage, so just yellow and green and first game of the yellow build i got a 9/1/7 and top damage, but also: FUN.

what i mean to say is: I FUCKING LOVE LEAGUE CLASSIC!!! there's so many more oldies i want to try, like AP Master Yi and FRAtMog Garen. now all i need is Curse Voice back and for my old friends to start playing again.

if you're a ezreal main and started playing after Yasuo was already in the game and only ever played on the modern map, PLEASE grab OG Ezreal and give it a try. its so worth it.

what is "mom rock", "dad rock" & "divorced dad rock"

i keep seeing this tags thrown around in tiktok, but they seem so undefined, like i've see Creed & Nickelback be described as both "dad rock" and "divorced dad rock", like what do these mean? i'm pretty sure "mom rock" is Goo Goo Dolls, Maroon 5, Coldplay & Train, i guess, but i've seen "butt rock" be thrown around and i'm confused. guys, help me out.

(BX) How many classes do you use?

Do you use classes outside of the core books (i.e. from old magazines, zines, blogs, homebrew classes)

a quick question about inventory

what is the most popular way of running it currently? RAW? card-based? slots? personal house-rule?

or do most people just wing it? i do. i let players carry anything until something feels off and then i have them list what's on their "backpack"/sheet and if it seems too much i have them redistribute who's carrying what until it feel reasonable and even drop a few things if feels like that they wouldn't be able to carry it all.

how do you guys do it?

the theoretical missing 4th class

its just something i've been thinking about a lot, because i don't run my OSE games with thieves or rogues, i see it as every adventurer, martials and casters alike, should all be thieves, so i use a skill system every has access to. so if the core 4 is fighter, wizard, cleric and thief, and the thief came later in Greyhawk, and as its known Gygax got it from the guys that did Warlock. i just keep thinking, if the Warlock thief was not a thing, what would the 4th class be?

like, from a pure historical point, i "know" that the true 4th class is something we'll never see in its original form: The Vampire! as the cleric class was created by Arneson in his Blackmoor game because there were 2 competing groups, one of them had a player playing a vampire and the teams needed power balance. but i just don't see how it could be done or fit into a regular ass, beer-and-chips dnd game.

also in Blackmoor, Fred Funk was playing the king of orcs, so a full orc as a PC preceeds the AD&D half-orc, but even then, that'd be a racial class like dwarf and elf. vampire, orc, whatever, all of those could be racial classes in BX format, but we'll never know what actual rules/mechanics Arneson was letting their players use to play them.

and its been 50+ years since then. fantasy books, movies and games have come out, we have more references to pull concepts from. if not a thief, what would the 4th class be today?

mothership would make a great steampunk RPG actually

if you'd just made some adjustments, it be pretty much 100% fitting.

• instead of a spaceship, it’s an ocean-going vessel or a rigid airship or even a train

• inhospitable environments could be extreme earth environments like the desert, under the sea, high altitude or the arctic

• adjust the characters — robots won’t fly, unless you want steam-powered automatons, which would be cool

• adjust the skills — exobiology won’t be needed, for example, but maybe an occult specialty, since the Victorian period was big in seances and a familiar steampunk setting

it has always been one of my favorites, its like Golden Axe EVOLVED. the art is so great, it feel like reading marvel-era Conan anda the backgrounds are breath-taking.

it works similar to how spirt of the elder lizard did, except without true damage.

i'm thinking of throwing it with manaflow band, transcendence, scorch, presence of mind and legend: haste and building IBG + manamune with random blue items just to test it out.

if it turns out its not good, i hope its at least fun.

personally, i just love blitzcrank. thresh, pyke and nautilus are fine, but no hook can beat blitz.

braum is a great too though.

what about you guys?
