Hello Wholigans, Whodlums, Who-heads, Whomsts, and all who feel a little Whorny. (But not Whovians!!!)

This proud sub is having its first EVENT in... who knows how long! Only the Who's nose, if you know(s). The event is a competition to decide the sub's BANNER and ICON!

Submission is easy: starting NOW, upload images of your creation (must be a YOU original), as a post, with the flair "Sub Banner Competition" or "Sub Icon Competition." The submission for each that has the most upvotes by noon EST on October 11th, will be the new icon and flair.

Restrictions: Must be created by you, no use of AI, no NSFW, and overall common sense stuff (no hate speech or iconography, you know). The mod term reserves the right to veto submissions.

As a reminder: the recommended size for banners is 4,000x128 pixels. The required size for icons is 256x256 pixels.

The random old fart of a stranger whose music we all like might have failed to live up to the ideals he once espoused but that doesn't mean we should all sit around and kick stones in shitposting complacency.

This is not a meme or a jerk this is me genuinely being at a loss.

This song is absolutely atrocious. The lyrics are juvenile, the sentiment is so hollow that it's making minecraft cave sounds, the production and instrumentation is boring as hell, it's all just so crummy. When Paul McCartney pushed for the release of Now and Then people dragged his name through the mud for daring to finish a tribute to the Beatles' legacy, but when David Gilmour made a cheesy, washed-up, years-late "tribute" song everyone apparently just shrugged and went "yeah it's alright?"

I played the song for my friend whose familiarity with the Floyd is mostly just for the big 70s albums and he said, "This sounds like what Pink Floyd haters say Pink Floyd sounds like." (Also, he thought the lyrics sounded like they were about having sex with someone, "This thing that we do," and that the "Go to Heaven, Wright" line sounded like they were telling Wright to die.) It's all just so... well, maybe "watered down" isn't the best choice of words. Flaccid?

The YouTube video has 21 million views so clearly people actually did hear the song. Did people just not care?

EDIT: Just to clarify, I don't think LTW should single-handedly ruin Gilmour or PF's entire reputation. I just think it's a shockingly black mark on said reputation.

You can't skip ahead to the more upbeat bangers, you're putting the physical vinyl record onto a physical record player at the start of sexytime and it's going in tracklist order.

I am collecting responses both here and on tumblr to cast a wider net.
