In my feels
Stayed up to watch the EDC sunrise set and am in my feels. I have said it before but I can’t reiterate enough how thankful I am to this community. Above & Beyond’s music is so transformational, & it is this fam that makes it the most significant blessing of my middle adulthood. Every day is a new discovery and something to look forward to.
You all & this music give me life. I cannot wait for my first ABGT.
My Honest Experience as a Multi-Year Delta 360
I’ve been a Delta 360 for several years now and honestly, the internet mythology around it is way more dramatic than the reality 😂
People fixate on Porsche rides and bag tags, but the real value is operational. The best way I can describe it is a “comfort blanket” during IRROPS. When travel goes sideways, Delta is usually very good at taking care of me quickly. That alone becomes incredibly valuable once you travel enough.
The recognition piece is actually pretty inconsistent. Sometimes staff acknowledges it and does an amazing job with it. Other times it feels basically identical to Diamond. Doesn’t bother me much either way.
One thing I find interesting is that I don’t think Delta selects 360s purely based on raw flight spend. There seems to be a broader relationship component to it:
- ecosystem loyalty
- Amex engagement
- business travel influence
- behavior toward the brand
- probably even how you handle complaints/issues
For example, I never blast Delta publicly when something goes wrong. I use surveys, complaint forms, and direct channels instead. I also try to be pretty self-sufficient operationally and only call the 360 desk when the app can’t solve something.
I’m also irrationally loyal to Delta at this point. If there’s a Delta route, I’m taking Delta. I don’t comparison shop anymore, even if another airline is cheaper or slightly more convenient.
The funny thing is I don’t even optimize that hard for upgrades. Comfort+ is meaningless at this level because it clears instantly anyway. For long-haul international I’ll usually buy Premium Select and use GUCs into D1.
I also use SkyMiles pretty freely. I don’t hoard them trying to maximize cpp spreadsheets. I’ll burn miles on flights, upgrades, experiences, lounge stuff, whatever improves the trip.
My personal theory is Delta cares a lot more about “relationship quality” than people realize. The longer I’ve had 360, the more it feels less like a published status tier and more like a private customer relationship program.
I try to be just visible enough about being Anjunafam because nothing beats randomly meeting one of you out in the wild. If even one person sees the bag or armband, looks up A&B, and ends up finding their way into this whole world… that’s already worth it to me 💙
If you see me in the wild, please say hello.
