Moved to Toronto from the U.S., any advice on landing a sw job?

I moved here because I married a Canadian. I got my PR 2 months ago and I’ve been applying since then, and no luck anywhere, not even one follow up in social work. I’m 24, I have a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, and 2 years of experience working in autism/ABA. I’ve applied to ABA positions, and I do get callbacks but I’m not too sure I wanna go back into ABA. It’s been tough getting callbacks, some people are telling me it might be because I have no Canadian experience or because of the gap in my resume. It’s been a year since I moved here and since I last worked. Thankfully my immigration process wasn’t too crazy long, a year isn’t so bad I feel. I think I just realized how physically taxing ABA is since I quit my job and moved here. It was tough working so hands on with aggressive physical behaviors. As much as I enjoyed working with kids most of the time, I’d rather work with adults. I’m thinking about going back for a post grad certificate in career development practitioner at George Brown if I can land anything with just my degree and experience. Some people have recommended a mental health and addictions certificate, how is it like working in that speciality? Any advice or feedback is greatly appreciated and super helpful! Thank you for reading

Edit: Sorry I was confused! I’m looking for something similar to the social work field such as case management positions. Sorry for the mix up, I just assumed it was all under the social work title.

Case managers; advice please

I’m interested in pursuing case management, i kinda don’t know where to start. I already have a bachelors degree in psychology and about 2 years working with children on the autism spectrum. I immigrated from the US because my husband is Canadian, it’s been a year and I finally got my PR. I’ve been looking at case management positions, all seem to require BSWs or a masters degree. I was wondering if getting a post grad certificate is worth it because I don’t think I could get into a masters program here, it’s way more competitive than it is in my state & I just don’t think I have enough to get into them. I saw some programs like mental health and addiction, is that worth pursuing? I’m open to a lot of fields within case management! Any advice on how to pivot into this field? How is the demand in Toronto/GTA? Any input is welcomed, thank you in advance!!

Advice please

I’m 24, I recently moved from the U.S to Toronto, married a Canadian (I know it’s a bad time to be moving here job market wise). Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, I have 2 years of experience in autism services and 7 months experience as a substitute teacher. Honestly both jobs were really mentally taxing and I want to pivot into healthcare or business. I’m open to going back to school for a certificate. Any suggestions on what’s in demand in Toronto and what could be worth getting a certificate in? I’m not too concerned about salary, anything would help my situation at the moment. I’m trying to focus on getting Canadian experience and any kind of pivoting role. I haven’t been working since I immigrated here, it’s been a year. Thank you in advance for any advice!!

Any suggestions for a post grad certificate?

I’ve been out of my undergrad for 2 years now, working mentally tiring jobs in the psychology field. I’d like to shift into more office type roles instead of field roles. I’m open to medical field roles but preferably something that won’t have me completely drained mentally by the end of the week. Something that has a better work life balance. Any suggestions or any info on your experience would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for your time

Chances of finding work in ABA/Autism services as a new PR from the U.S.?

I just got my PR a couple weeks ago. I’m planning on applying at the end of June because I’m currently visiting my family in the states. I moved to Toronto because I got married to a Canadian. I keep hearing it’s slim pickins in Toronto as a whole. I’m just curious what it’s like for my specific field? I have two years experience in ABA, a bachelors in psychology, and 6 months experience in special education. Unfortunately I have no canadian experience as I just received my PR, and I have a year gap of working since I was in the immigration process.

New to Toronto; how bad is it?

Recently got my PR, I moved from Detroit to the Scarborough area because I married a Canadian. I moved here because my husband has the more stable career. When we got married, it was a few months after I got my bachelor’s Psychology. From what I hear, I’m probably gonna be unemployed for a while. I have a background in ABA, I did that for a year and a half then I was a substitute teacher for 4 months before I moved here. I’ve been here for a year and finally got my PR last week.

I’m interested in pursuing Human Resources, probably starting out as a HR assistant. I was interested in Social Work, I still am but I’ve kind of lost touch with all people who could give me references. And I’m not all too sure I would like to go back for a Masters. I tried to do some research on how difficult the job market is for HR, and it seems like it’s difficult to find a job especially entry level. I’m nervous and feeling so behind. I’m open to other things too, I’m not 100% sure of any job. If there’s any info on HR or any jobs that could work for a Psychology degree, please drop a comment. And any experience you have on trying to find a similar job, please share with me! Thank you!

Teacher Rachel

I’m almost done with Season 2, I’m on the episode that the teacher, Rachel gets fired for “having a relationship with a student”. I used to like her and thought the rumors were too far for Blair to go. But then she told Dan that maybe in 5 years they could have a relationship… Girl. You’re not dealing with 20 year old college students; these are high school kids. Good riddance, I hope she doesn’t get her job back because wth.

Update: I FINISHED THE REST OF THE EPISODE AND OMG. EW.

Season 2, episode 15 sibling

This is my first time watching Gossip Girl and I’ve been enjoying it, each character has their good and bad so far. I don’t know if this is a common topic of discussion, but I don’t know what’s so disgusting about Dan and Serena being together if they share a long lost sibling. The whole reason why incest is gross is because of DNA or you grew up together as a family. It is taboo, I don’t know if in the future they find this sibling out there. But if it’s such a big no, Lily should’ve said something from the very beginning. Also, if anything isn’t it weird that their parents even dated and clearly had sex with each other during that relationship anyways. So why is this where the line gets drawn? I still think they should break up though. I’m just thinking like this all could’ve been prevented like😭😭
