Tremors and Left Handers

Greetings everyone!

I discovered fountain pens as a hobby at the end of last year. I love the plethora of ink and pen combinations. My eventual snag hit when the tremor in my right hand prevented me from writing with a fountain pen, the subtle shake made for atrocious hand writing and was extremely irritating and disheartening.

I ended up giving my meager collection to my daughter and her husband to enjoy, but I still lurk and I still want to use a fountain pen.

My question is, can a 50 something year old learn to write with his left hand and would I be able to use a fountain pen if I do? I have read there is way to hold it called underwriting? I’m just not sure if I can manage even though my left hand does not have the tremor.

Interesting side note: when in grade school I gravitated toward writing with my left hand but the teacher made me write with my right hand so that’s the way I learned.

Thanks in advance for any info or advice.

Greetings everyone

Just wanted to say hi. I’ve been lurking on this sub for a few days. Saw some posts that made me reminisce about the game and wanted to see if it was worth coming back.

Me and my wife never got very far and it’s been years since we played. I understand some server shuffling has occurred and we won’t know our fate until we attempt to log in again lol.

What are some populated U.S. based servers on the east coast? We usually solo a lot but are not opposed to joining a fellowship if they are welcoming, not clicky and talk in chat. We have discord but don’t usually use voice chat much.

What are some classes that are good for solo and decent in a group if we find a like minded group to play with? My wife was a Ranger and I believe I have a Minstrel. I’m not so sure I want lean on the healing side of things so may change that up when I return.

Anyway, nice to meet you all and look forward to any advice and/or suggestions you can give.

Battletech Novels

I really hate I missed the last Battletech novel collection. Ended up missing it by a day and have been hopeing it would come back.

Since it’s been 2 years is there any chance it might appear again?

I’ve seen things repeatedly coming back but never that one specific bundle.

Returning newbie

Greetings everyone! I attempted to play 20 or so years ago. Got a few boxed sets and a core book to try and get my two boys interested in the game. Sadly they did not take to it. After that life got busy and I forgot about the game and only just uncovered them again when rearranging. I have included a picture of what I have as I’m not sure if the book is the full rules or not.

I am hoping to get back into the game. My girls are adults now and actually showed interest in playing.

In lurking around I noticed that people were recommending the Alpha Strike box and the Armored Warfare box so I’ve purchased those and they will ship soon. Also preordered the new core book on Amazon and looking forward to that as well.

I figure that should be enough to get me started.

Any other recommendations, or primers in the history so I’m a bit more familiar with the universe?

Thanks in advance for any pointers or recommendations! Happy gaming.

Need some advice

Greetings everyone! I am in my 50’s and picking up programming as a hobby but I do have a goal.

I started with python because I read it was a forgiving language and I did not want to fry my brain. However, I’m wondering if I should switch to a webstack (html, css and JavaScript) for the project I am ultimately wanting to create.

My grail project will be a TTRPG journaling application for solo play. I want to have the ability to use character sheets, journal and even display a JPEG map. I’m just not sure which language would be the BEST.

My initial idea was python and pyside6 with maybe the addition of pygame if I wanted actual dice to roll on screen.

Just looking to narrow my focus with those far more versed than I am so I don’t waste time working towards my goal.

Thank you all for any assistant and direction you can provide, and happy coding!

Another newbie

Greetings everyone! Been a lurker here for a bit and just got the game during the Steam sale. However, I’ve yet to play it just because I was a bit intimidated by it.

I have a few questions that have been plaguing me since joining this sub.

When making these amazing cities I see here are you actually playing the game as intended? Or just plopping what buildings you want to make the city look how you want?

Next, what are some recommended mods? I usually play games vanilla but it seems that would be a mistake with this game.

I want to make amazing looking cities but would also like to tackle making current cities for fun with a primary focus on my fictional cities base around a country like Japan or the USA.

Thanks for any tips and suggestions.

Over kill?

Hello everyone,

Is corelDRAW over kill if all I am wanting to use it for manga/anime type art?

Long story short, I have hand tremors and cannot draw normally anymore. Using a mouse does not trigger the tremors so I am looking for a program that will still allow me to draw using the mouse.

I want the ability to create illustration level characters in regard to complex shading but also keep it simple for fun art or game assets. I had corelDRAW version x8 I believe once upon a time but don’t remember its capabilities. Also, finding corelDRAW artwork in the style I am looking for has been sparse so really no way to judge if it will work well for me.

I’ve also been scouting Inkscape as a possible choice but I’m less familiar with that program. Not many people want to mouse draw their artwork so you generally don’t see the style I am looking for in recent postings.

I am thinking of giving the current version a trial run but with my busy work schedule I’m not sure I’ll get enough time with it to make an informed decision before the trial expires.

Thanks in advance for any info or insights you can provide.

Preorder closed for basic edition Hope and Fear?

Basically what the title says. I went to the crit role shop and attempt to preorder the basic 40 dollar set and it gives me the error "Variant can only be purchased with a selling plan." The pre-order tag on the thumbnail is gone as well as the preorder shipping warning on the product page.

Just to test, I tried to add the preorder for the deluxe edition and that worked just fine. Has anyone seen an announcement that they were stopping preorders for the basic set?

I am at a loss as to why they would stop preorders for this version and not both at the same time. A pre-order can't run out, right? It's a preorder and didn't say it was limited, lol.

I am not going to be railroaded into a more expensive copy either. Just irritated it would close like that.
