Banned from having a bank account?

Not me, but one of my friends from my home country

He arrived on a 417 and was naive about tax laws, etc
Got paid cash in hand, deposited the cash into his bank account, and sometimes transferred the money through Wise to his home country

The bank closed his account, and the other banks are not allowing him to open an account

Is it over for him?

Teaching in the ACT , specifically 7 - 10 / 11 - 12

My understanding is that in the ACT public secondary schools are split into 7-10 or 11-12, with a few 10-12

But how does one teach in such a school? Surely it's difficult to get a full load based solely on Year 11 / 12 subjects? (even if you could, it sounds like a nightmare?)

Or do they usually teach multiple subjects?

Or do they usually teach at two schools (one Y7-10 and one Y11-12)
In which case why not just have a 7-12 school so that teachers won't have to commute between schools?

Do schools still have take-home SACs anymore? For unit 3/4 specifically

Surely in the age of AI, and the fact that rich kids can afford tutors

It's not safe to have any form of assessment other than in-person invigilated (no access to internet)

I am referring to 3/4 only because that actually affects your ATAR,unlike 1/2 which is only S/N

Planning levels and 491 visa backlog?

My understanding is that the planning level is the number of visas granted in that FY, not the number of invitations issued for that FY

So with 491 visas for the next FY being slashed by half, does that mean hardly any invitations will be issued, given the backlog?

What do employers really look for?

Just had a terrible first half of the semester (third, of four in an M. Teach program)

Out of the first four assignments (one per unit, each worth 50% of the unit), I got three Ps and a fail (by one mark)

I had to juggle between placement, work (to pay rent and living expenses) and anxiety

The plan is to place all my effort into placements, and graduate with Ps

An alternative is to reduce the load to part-time to possibly improve my grades

But my mentor suggested that, provided I am mentally OK, to get the degree out of the way and start practising ASAP, no one cares about WAMs in this degree

What do you think?

What happens if I report someone as holding dual citizenship

He's from country X, born and raised there to two parents who are also born and raised there

He gave up that country's citizenship to obtain SG citizenship

Then he immediately reapplied for citizenship of country X through the "descent" route, because both his parents are citizens of country X by birth

He is currently in Singapore, working as well

Where are Taiwan supposed to get their immigrants?

With Taiwanese people not giving birth, who's gonna take care of the elderly, and do low-skilled service jobs?

Yue vs Cantonese

Which name do you prefer in English?

Problem is

Yue is the Mandarin Hanyupinyin transliteration of 粵
Canton is also problematic

Maybe we should normalise calling it Jyut ?

Decided not to take the language I have studied since primary school (Saturday school, heritage language) and therefore have no records of ever formally taking the language

Then take level 1 of that language, and then level 2 and so on
Am I doing myself a disservice by wasting time and units? Yeah

But the free WAM is pretty sweet

To what extent has supporting your parents reduced your ability / willingness to have children?

Both parents are informal workers, cash-in-hand type of job, so no CPF

Having to take care of them makes me a serf. I have no ability to have children and thus don't want to marry

I just want their selfish-ass gene to terminate

It's easy for the gahmen to talk about raising TFR, but still refuses to invest in taking care of the elderly
