The music box keying up, the phantom piano music, Akasha babbling, Lestat helplessly squirming and convulsing in ecstasy and fear, Marius panicked …. I can’t describe how this scene made me feel. This was like a cinematic orgasm . I shortened the clip because it’s too long to end with Akasha breaking the fourth wall …WOW
I 100% expected many of IWTV show lovers to drop off during The Vampire Lestat but some of the gripes are so funny to me.
•They want the same exact vibe from a show told from a completely different characters viewpoint. Like how? Their personalities and experiences are completely different.
•They want more detailed and chronological storytelling from a character that hates being vulnerable or displaying any imperfections. Especially as we see in S1/S2 that this is very much the reason for his romantic failings.
•Hedonism- we have a character self-medicating with blood, sex and drugs? And is also a rockstar?
•Chaotic energy- hello he is the Brat prince? He is excessive, he is dramatic and he is very, very emotional! Also he is chronically online so yeah he’s going to make A LOT of modern and pop culture references.
•Too much incest straight sex- guys you cannot interchange the two like Lestat is literally being manipulated and the scenes were not even gratuitous by nature
Now I wholeheartedly agree that the season contains several flaws, which of course we are free to discuss but the points above make me feel that people do not understand the character that is Lestat and might secretly be prudes. The Anne Rice world is a gothic romance one and can deal with a lot of taboo topics.
Just finished watching Toronto and I was speechless. It was not visually how I imagined when reading TVL but somehow they captured so many of the emotions I felt. The music was so good, the music video with Magnus and I have no words for Sam Reid’s acting when Nicki was crashing out! Tell me your favourite scenes in the episode!?
