What can AI assistants actually do other then function as an in editor chatgpt?

Hi, im curious what all these AI Assistants can actually do other then what were used to from browser based AI?

Can it read Blueprints or other features in real-time and use this knowledge to follow prompts?

Ive seen short clips of people using it to create PCG prompts which is pretty cool but other then that what are the uses cases in comparison to browser based AI?

Example :

Let's say I buy a climbing asset or a driving asset, is it able to read the Blueprints and integrate that into my own Blueprints?

Ie: Can it help me integrate an asset into an another asset in an informed way?

Im kind of confused about the limitations and possibilities of these in engine AI assistants and dont quite see the difference yet between AI assistants and Browser based AI.

However i cant seem to actually get it to work.

Things ive tried:

-Turned it on in console

When opening inventory the game stutters (Already tried reinstalling) (PC)

Hi, ive been having an issue with stutters after opening and closing the inventory.

(Pressing tab).

If i alt-tab out of the game and back in, it resolves the stutters, but when i open the inventory again it will re-appear. So it means i have to alt-tab every 2 mins which is pretty frustrating.
Ive had this issue for years now, and have reinstalled Dayz many times in the last few years and i think i even replaced some of my PC'S hardware since then (New GPU, new SSD's etc).

Running a 12600k with a 3060TI, with 32gig ram. So performance is no issues whatsoever.

Was hoping to find somebody here who has had the same issue and knows how to fix it.

Thanks in advance.

UE5.8 Preview: Does FSSS - Fog Screen Space Scattering work with ExponentialHeightFog?

Hi, ive been trying to test out Fog Screen Space Scattering (Experimental) and it doesnt seem to work for me. Im using a ExponentialHeightFog so maybe thats the reason its not working.

I have volumetric fog turned on and turned on the FSSS inside the Heightfog, aswell as tested with r.Fog.ScreenSpaceScattering 1.

Just curious if anyone messed around with it yet.

Has anyone had success with this RTXGI 5.7 plugin

Hi, ive been trying to get this to work on the most recent 5.7 build, I managed to get the project to open and I have access to the RTX GI probes but they dont seem to be doing anything in my project. I tried turning off SM6 aswell as the other steps provided by nvidia thenselves but the probes dont seem to do anythintm

I was curious if anyone here has had success actually getting it to work in 5.7. If so what steps did u follow to make it work?

Hi, i've been trying to eliminate these Lumen artifacts for weeks, testing a wide variety of things, including different UE versions. Im getting pretty desperate so i was hoping somebody with more experience then me knows the solution. https://streamable.com/obgf9j https://streamable.com/joyjf7

The artifacts/flickers occur when foliage is in a shadow either cast by other geometry in the scene or shadows cast by clouds.

Things i tested.

- No Dynamic Shadows/Distance Field lighting

- Two sided foliage material

- Turning off Shortrange AO / Turning off Screen traces

- Tried alot of different modeled opaque foliage meshes to see if specific foliage models made it worse

- r.Lumen.ScreenProbeGather.Temporal.DistanceThresholdForFoliage (The higher i set this the less it flickers but the flicker stays)

- different AA methods (DLSS,FSR,TSR,TAA) DLSS as expected has the least flicker.

- Lumen GI set to high/epic/quality, aswell as tweaking it in post processing.

- Testing between different UE versions. Aswell as Switching between VSM and normal shadow maps.

I tested a wide variety of cvars, here are some

r.Lumen.ScreenProbeGather.ShortRangeAO.Temporal

r.Lumen.ScreenProbeGather.TemporalFilterProbes

r.Lumen.ScreenProbeGather.Temporal.DistanceThresholdForFoliage (Raising this from the default 0.02 makes the flickers "slower" so they are less noticable, but the flicker is still present)

r.Lumen.ScreenProbeGather.ScreenTraces.HZBTraversal (Turning this off can help, but it will force screen traces to take fixed step sizes which will rarely ever produce the correct hit result. Especially problematic in interiors)

Here is a clip of a simple test scene with best case with only 1 foliage model at 100% screen percentage using DLSS. (Clip is recorded in UE5,6, but issue persists in UE5,7) (Clips shows me turning Lumen on and off)

Hi

Starting a UE5.7 default project and setting graphics to cinematic still doesnt give a clean lighting scene.

Lumen (HW) still has an insane amount of visual noise, flickers, and other artifacts in a fresh project.

Especially on foliage but even in Epics own sample projects such as Derelict Corridor or any of the other, there is still no visual stability.

This has been a trend since UE5s initial release a few years ago and although there has been improvements, I still cant use Lumen without a buttload of Visual noise. Which is awful for the player experience.

Using post processing to max out lumen GI and Reflection quality helps a bit, but it doesnt come close to eliminating all the visual noise that comes with using Lumen. Over the years ive found some success with directly adjusting Console Commands, but was never able to get Lumen to look production ready.

Im starting to lose faith in in releasing a product utilising Lumen because im unable to get visual stability.

This is an issue in UE 5.4/5.5/5.6/5.7 so its not directly caused by a specific engine version.

My question is, how did some of the released games on the market get Lumen to look clean and without any visual noise? Has anyone else in this community achieved a stable lighting scene utilising Lumen and what did you adjust to get it to be visually stable?

For context this is an issue regardless of screen percentage, AA Method, and occurs in every UE version.
