Hello everyone! I wanted to make a quick post because I’ve seen some discussions surrounding the recent news about New Dawn of Harmony, and I wanted to clarify a few things.
First off, thank you all so much for the overwhelming kindness and support during this transition into a completely original show. I genuinely had no idea how people would react, and the amount of love and excitement we’ve received has honestly meant the world to us. The best way I can thank everyone is by continuing to work hard and doing everything I can to help make this new series something wonderful!
For clarification: we did NOT receive a cease and desist from Hasbro. The only actions taken against us were 3 copyright claims on YouTube videos, which could have eventually resulted in strikes against the channel if left unresolved, as well as the removal of some old MLP NDOH standees from Kickstarter that had already been fulfilled over a year ago.
Even though this was not a direct cease and desist situation like what happened with projects such as Button Mash Adventures from Jan Animations, we still chose to take it very seriously. We reached out to the lawyer who submitted the claims, and she informed us that any information we sent regarding the project would be passed along to Hasbro’s Brand Team. After waiting several days without further response, we decided we were not interested in potentially spending weeks, months, or even years waiting on uncertainty surrounding whether we could continue the project the way we truly envisioned it.
That’s ultimately why we chose to move forward with transitioning the series into something original instead that does NOT feature ANY MLP IP or Characters as you have seen the project so far!
Honestly, we had been mentally and creatively preparing for this possibility from the very beginning of development over 3 years ago. We already had plans and backup ideas in place in case something like this ever happened, which is a huge reason why we feel so hopeful and excited about what comes next.
We’re going to be okay, and the team and I are REALLY excited to continue building something amazing moving forward!!
