Distance for UVB bulb with Crested Gecko
Hey I have an Arcadia T5 7% UVB bulb. The vivarium is 16” tall to the lid. The tank is a Zoo Med Reptihabitat mesh top so around 35% of UVB is blocked. I know that cresties need max 2.4% UVB exposure. The basking area is 8” from the top.
I’m confused because everything is talking about the UVB at the basking spot being the max the 2.4%. Obviously my gecko can climb onto the lid, but he only very rarely has (plus never during the day when the light would be on.) Does the UVB exposure at the lid need to be the 2.4% or the basking spot be 2.4%? Plus if I’m using the 7% bulb how much do I need to raise the fixture to achieve the proper exposure at the right spot.
Which location do I measure exposure at?
What distance do I need to raise my 7% light to achieve proper exposure at desired spot?
