Linux for MacBook Pro

Hi, my MacBook Pro 13-inch mid 2012 is not usable for anything online these days.

Was thinking of installing either ChromeOS Flex (last resort) or some kind of Linux. I know next to nothing about Linux, have used it a few times, ok. I have heard Ubuntu LTS is supposed to be one of the best, is that true? Gemini says to try Mint, but i'm not really sure what the differences are. If it helps, i am familiar with OS X Tiger through Catalina, and Windows 98-XP, and Windows 11.

I think when I've used Linux the couple times before it was Ubuntu. I am looking for something thats easy to install, can boot alongside a skeleton Catalina (to only use in case of emergency if I need a Mac tool - basically an unused clean install), and I think if i recall the Ubuntu I used had an easy software center. I also want something that'll have all (or most) drivers preinstalled and that updates itself automatically, with a very rare manual upgrade needed.

Primarily the software I'd use would be Firefox, Seamonkey (for email only-- using the extension to open links in the default browser (firefox)), Irfanview (i read i can launch it via Wine), VLC, and LIbreOffice. It would be great if some version of iTunes could be used (i havent researched this yet, maybe via Wine?), and I have been using OneDrive since it was SkyDrive, so I'm pretty locked into that and have no interest in switching cloud providers, so a OneDrive integration would be great if possible (if not i can use the web version to manually backup files).

Is this possible? What Linux is best recommended? Ubuntu LTS? Mint? Something else? And would it be OK for daily, light, consumer use on my MacBook?

LTE Calls Turned Off

Anyone else getting these messages on their iPhones?

I've gotten them on two iPhones, a couple times over the past week.

Calling still seems to work. So not sure what it means.

HINT control -- disabling wifi networks

Hi — I have a G5 device (ar or se, not sure which). The Hint Control app appears to let you disable its Wi‑Fi networks, but I’ve read that doing so can cause errors. I plan to use my own router instead. What errors or issues might occur if the device’s Wi‑Fi networks are turned off?
