Did I screw myself over with the offer?

I am currently in the last months of an internship at company A. Recently I received a very good full-time offer from company B, with which I went to my manager, as he had hinted at them looking to keep me with a return offer. He then put in a headcount request to keep me and suggested to HR to match company B's salary, which led to me rejecting the offer from company B. I told my manager that I had rejected the other offer. Yesterday I received a call from the recruiter at my company, letting me know that they are discussing and finalizing the details of my offer. They also asked me about the competing offer, and to play with open cards and ensure they have the same information as my manager, I told them I had already rejected it. Which leads to my question - is this going to screw me over and possibly result in me getting a lower salary than I would have if I told them I still had the other offer on the table?

Which truly top-tier tech companies in Netherlands (ideally Amsterdam) are worth targeting?

A copy of a post from a few months ago about Berlin

I’m trying to figure out whether there are genuinely top-tier companies here, especially in Amsterdam, that are worth setting as a long-term goal (engineering quality, culture, growth, and compensation).

I’m sure everyone has heard about Adyen, Booking, Uber, JET etc., but at the same time there are companies such as Snowflake, Databricks and Microsoft here as well. How do they compare?

And if you’ve worked at a company in Netherlands that you’d strongly recommend, which one and why?

Both DS/MLE and SWE experiences are welcome.

Adyen vs Tesla

Hey all,

I have found myself in a fortunate position where I have job offers from Adyen and Tesla for a Data Analytics position. I have only a year of work experience and the salaries both fall in the same range. My long term goal would be to move/transfer to the US and to shift more towards a Analytics Engineer / AI Engineer role.

Therefore I am wondering, which would be a better fit for my long term goal? My mind jumps to Tesla due to its US presence and brand name, but from what I've read Adyen is also quite a powerhouse in fintech and would also enable me to transfer internally or to apply to Stripe, their main competitor.

Open to all thoughts and questions :)

Reconciliation with a Friend

In 2024, I cut off one of my best friends. He had been drunk driving, doing drugs, acting disrespectful towards me and others, and I decided that this was not the kind of behavior I wanted to surround myself with. My ex pressured me into blocking him, I think I would’ve just went radio silent. It’s been a few years now, and I’m honestly in a great position in life - I’m about to graduate with a master’s, I have a very solid job, I work out and I very rarely drink. The most I’ve heard about him is from another friend that he’s become deeply addicted to gambling, is drinking all the same and is pretty much ruining his life. A part of me misses him and wants to make amends, but at the same time the very reason why I cut him off still exists - behavior that isn’t healthy to be surrounded with. What should I do?
