Convince me to buy the Apex 4 — long-time Garmin user who really misses MIP

Long-time Garmin user here. Started on the Fenix MIP series, then moved to the Enduro 3 — honestly my all-time favourite watch, even if it ended up being a bit too big for me. Right now I’m on a Forerunner 970, and I really want to go back to MIP.

The Fenix 8 MIP isn’t an option for me, I just don’t like it. And the Garmin UI has started to feel a bit stale — I’d like to try something different for once. So: sell me on the Apex 4.

A few things I’d love input on:

**•**	**Daily driver:** How does it wear day to day? Size/thickness on a normal wrist?

**•**	**Sleep tracking:** Is Coros actually good here? How solid is the recovery/training load side of things?

**•**	**Strength work:** I do calisthenics 2–3x a week with a Garmin HR chest strap. Is that compatible, or do I need to switch straps?

**•**	**Running/hiking:** 2–3 runs a week, lots of hiking in summer. How are the maps? Is planning your own routes easy? Can I load GPX files onto it without pain?

**•**	**Everything else:** Occasional swimming, football with the kids, that kind of thing.

And one more: does Coros have any kind of 24/7 metric comparable to Garmin’s Body Battery — continuous stress and recovery tracking throughout the day?

Thanks a lot in advance for any help!

Wearing a Forerunner 970 + Whoop simultaneously – how do you deal with the data conflict?

I’m switching over to the Forerunner 970 but want to keep wearing Whoop in parallel for now. And I immediately run into a logic problem:

**•**	For Garmin’s Body Battery & training recommendations to be accurate, I’d need to wear the watch at night too (sleep data, HRV, etc.)

**•**	For Whoop to retain its purpose (strain tracking), I’d need to wear Whoop during training

**•**	Put both together and that means wearing two devices on my wrist 24/7 – which feels like overkill

If you run both in parallel, which device do you actually trust/follow? Do you really wear both around the clock, or do you split it up (e.g. Whoop only at night + during workouts, Garmin only during the day)? And how do you handle it when the two spit out different recovery/strain numbers?

Would love to hear your setups and experiences.

Race 2 titanium over Fenix 8 steel?

Hi everyone,

I’ve got a question for the community here.

I want to get back into running, but for years I’ve been doing strength training/calisthenics two to three times a week.

On top of that, my plan is to run twice a week for 30 minutes to an hour. I’m not planning on longer distances right now — I ran a half marathon a few years ago.

Otherwise, I’m mainly after a sleek, comfortable everyday watch.

I don’t need sleep tracking; I’ve used a Whoop for over a year now and didn’t get any real added value out of it for the kind of training load I do.

Will the Race 2 Titanium make me happy for these purposes?

Meaning: calisthenics two to three times a week, running twice a week, and just everyday wear otherwise. Hiking a few times a year, so some map functionality would need to be in there too.

Right now I’ve got Garmin’s Fenix 8 (steel) on my wrist, but I feel a bit overwhelmed by its thickness and the endless options Garmin’s software throws at me.

(And yes, I’m a nerd. I’ve previously owned the first-gen Race, a Forerunner, the Apple Watch Ultra 3, a Whoop, …) → now it’s finally time to land on the right one for my needs.

Thanks a lot for any feedback!
