Normal?

I notice Randall typically does this interesting exaggerated “head bob” while walking around. It seems he is mainly just “smelling” his surroundings but it just seems odd that his head moves so much. He is otherwise completely healthy and the enclosure is well within proper care range. Is he just quirky, is this normal, or is it something I should be concerned about?

UVB Concerns

Hello, my boy Randall is 10 months old, and is a Mack Snow Tremper Eclipse. Knowing he’s albino I got him an Arcadia shade dweller 2.4% 8W UVB in the hopes it wouldn’t be too bright for him. This morning I was handling him and put him back in his enclosure after the UVB came on. When I set him in there he seemed completely confused and lost as to where he was even though I put him right at the entrance of his favorite hide and the most common one he sleeps in during the day. He is also never out when the UVB is on (I know that’s very typical and they’re mostly active at night) and almost never is near his hide entrance while it’s on either, but if he is his eyes are always closed.

I’m concerned it may be too bright for him and think I either need to add fake leaves to the mesh top under the UVB to reduce how much gets thru or completely remove the UVB all together. He’s good with my normal house lights and I keep him in the living room which gets some sunlight in but just doesn’t seem to like the UVB. I supplement him with Repashy Calcium plus on Monday feedings and regular calcium without d3 on Thursdays feedings so I could swap to that for both if I do remove the UVB. Any advice on the matter is greatly appreciated, or just tell me I’m paranoid if that’s what’s really going on.

First time Randall has climbed onto my hand by choice!

I’ve been leaving my hand in the enclosure occasionally to get him used to my scent and he has been licking my hands and even putting his hands on my finger or walking over my hand on a few occasions but last night he full on walked onto my hand! I know it’s a long process but him already climbing on my hand after only being with me for 2 weeks is really encouraging! He’s been eating really well and has also been doing all the other necessary healthy living gecko things.

He’s here!

I am so beyond excited and happy to have him finally here. He immediately started exploring before finally settling in to the warm hide and eventually pressing up on the wall closest to his DHP. I have settled on the name Randall (Boggs from monsters inc) with a nickname of Randy (Marsh from South Park) because he’s in a bioactive enclosure so he’s “growing” some plants😂.

First gecko+ setup

Hello everyone! I recently adopted my first Leo after many months of research with intent to purchase as well and many more years of wanting one. The enclosure is not totally set up so please go easy on me, but it’s getting close. I had the breeder hold him until this upcoming week so that way I can get the final pieces set up once I get to my off week. I can’t even begin to describe how excited I am to get him! I’m going with a bioactive enclosure and already have the CUC settled in so hopefully they’ll be good to go when he arrives. I’m curious which plants people use asides from elephant bush and snake plants. I’m looking for some slightly colorful plants or more unique ones in general.
