Enormous increase in FPS
I recently upgraded my PC’s power supply unit from a 650watt supply to a 1250 watt supply because I was fairly certain that issues I was having with getting my VR set working were tied to having basically zero excess power to work with after powering the other pc components.
I then went looking for VR optimization guides and came across this guide.
After following the guide and messing about with my in game graphic settings to get VR stable and usable, which it’s almost there, I found that the FPS I was getting in normal 2D games had almost doubled from 80-100 with most settings maxed to an incredibly stable 140-145fps with the same settings. Note that I am not using frame generation and DLSS 4.5 is on with up scaling set to native. Basically all settings are maxed except for ray tracing which I’ve left off.
I am no computer expert so I cannot say which settings that were changed suddenly allowed my performance to double but my intuition is telling me that it was the changes to graphics settings in the Nvidia control panel (my system was already using the Resizable BAR thing, don’t ask me what that is).
If you have an Nvidia GPU and want more FPS, try to follow this guide regardless of if you’re using VR or not, and let us know if your game visuals and performance improves.
And if you’re more pc literate than I and can point out which settings change(s) made such a difference, please let us know!
