Jobs within the school board while in the concurrent BEd program

I am going into Year 2/5 for the concurrent BEd program, the majority of my courses are online for the first 3 years, minus a few related to the BEd portion.

Currently, I doing DoorDash, it was working for me at the beginning of the year… But with the gas prices and people not buying as much fast food as they used to for obvious reasons, this is a perpetual hell for me.

I need out, ASAP. The problem is my monthly bill output is around $2400 a month. So I need something that will at least support that, and be flexible enough where I can do my few in class courses.

I understand that I will technically be eligible for the uncertified supply teacher at the end of next year, however, I’m looking for something… anything when it comes to ideas of what else I could be doing starting this year.

Has anyone been in the same boat as myself? I am a 32-year-old mature student, SCDSB is the district closest to me, I drive and I have like 13 years of retail/sales management experience!

I can’t wait to vote this POS out of office in 2029.

Let’s hope whoever is running in 2029 will have “debt forgiveness” on their platform.

$5200 EXTRA in student loans this year.

That’s $20,800 EXTRA I have to pay now at the end of my program.

Brings my $60,500 student loans to $81,300.

FUCK. YOU. DOUG. 🖕

Concurrent Ed and program changes (am I screwed when it comes to finding a job in a few years?)

I am going into Year 2 of 5 of a concurrent BA/BEd program. I have heard mixed things about them potentially changing the program for students already in it. God, I hope so… I really don’t want to have to pay another year back in student loans that I otherwise wouldn’t have to, also with potentially being leapfrogged by two full years of additional teacher candidates.
