Jesus, Kamo, you don't have to be so rude 😭

For context, this is from Phantom Parade. Miwa, Momo, and Mai were out shopping after the Tokyo/Kyoto Goodwill Event and Kamo caught up with them after looking for them in a few women's stores. Miwa asked what he was doing there, and Kamo said that he was looking for them cause Utahime wanted to have a post-event analysis with all the Kyoto students, but he was having trouble finding the Kyoto girls cause they were "too weak" to track by their Cursed Energy.

Like damn, I know the Kyoto girls aren't as strong as the Kyoto boys are aside from Arata, but you didn't have to call them out like that, Kamo. They're out here trying their best, man. 💔

I think it would've been dope as hell and a great moment of character development for Momo if she was a part of the Cursed Naoya fight.

Like seriously, think about it. A lot of Momo's character centers around womanhood and what it means to be a woman in Jujutsu Society, right? And we know that she was closer to Mai and understood her struggles more than anyone else aside from Maki, so how cool would it have been to see one of the series's biggest feminists going up against the world's biggest misogynist? And there would be a personal reason for Momo to want to fight Naoya too since it's heavily implied that he bullied and maybe even SA'ed Mai, who was her best friend. And we saw her arriving at the Zenin household in an attempt to save Mai from what she knew was coming, so we know she wasn't afraid to throw hands with anyone who tried to hard her bestie. Plus, this would've been a good way for her to gain SOME sort of relevance, cause she really got the short end of the stick when compared to the other Kyoto students:

Todo doesn't need explaining, he's already the GOAT.🐐💪🔥💯

Mechamaru/Kokichi was boxing with Mahito and probably could've beaten him if he wasn't saving so much of his energy for Kenjaku. Plus, he was a major help in Shibuya.

We already saw how Kamo was moving against Cursed Naoya. And he taught Yuji Blood Manipulation.

Miwa stole all our hearts with her cuteness and relatability and protected Maki from Malevolent Shrine.

Arata was out here saving Nobara from death.

Even Mai sacrificing herself is what led to Maki completing her Heavenly Restriction in the first place.

Meanwhile, Momo got absolutely NOTHING. I feel like this would've been the perfect place in the story for her to get a moment to shine, especially since she's supposed to be a third year and an above average sorcerer, but we never got the chance to see her do anything (aside from her trash performances in the GWE and Shibuya, but let's just ignore those for now, hehe). I think this would've been the perfect opportunity for her character to really leave a good impression on everyone, but what do you guys think?

Guess The Scale #3 (Difficulty: Super Easy, Barely An Inconvenience)

✅Answer to the last one: Characters ranked from least to most in terms of how healthy their relationship with their sibling/sibling figure is. It can be found here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Jujutsufolk/s/CyvEjKzuGH

And now we move on to #3. Honestly, I feel like this one is a dead giveaway, but we'll see in due time~. Good luck!

EDIT: Damn, I knew this one was easy, but I still didn't think someone would get it within the first 5 comments LOL.

WE HAVE A WINNER!!!!!!!! NICE WORK TO u/Optimal-Conflict1756 FOR GETTING THE CORRECT ANSWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All jokes about Miwa soloing Sendai and killing Sukuna aside, there REALLY should have been some sort of payoff to this.

And I'm not talking about giving Miwa a giant power up or anything like that, cause obviously that wouldn't have made sense. I'm not even saying that she should have fought with another weapon to circumvent her binding vow, as cool as that would have been. I'm just saying that after all the shit that went down in Shibuya, we REALLY should have seen something more come from her character arc.

Like, instead of this panel just alluding to the fact that Kyoto is in the Culling Games to inform the Tokyo players about the change of plans, we actually SEE Miwa regroup with Yuta and tell him about what's going on like we saw with Momo and Hakari and Kamo and Maki. And during this exchange, Yuta takes note of how sad Miwa is and she opens up to him about Kokichi/Mechamaru's death and how she put her all into trying to take Kenjaku down to avenge him, only for her attack to not even scratch his hand in the end. Now she feels completely useless and like she can't protect anyone, not even her little brothers whom she got into sorcery to provide for in the first place. And on the verge of a total breakdown, Yuta empathizes with Miwa, cause he knows more than anyone what it's like to want to put it all on the line to protect those he cares for the most. And while reassuring her that she's not useless and that she's stronger than she realizes, Yuta promises to her that he'll take down Kenjaku for her and everyone else whom he's hurt, which helps to put a smile on Miwa's face and give her the confidence she needs to keep pushing forward.

Then, when we get to the chapter where everyone's soul swapping to learn simple domain, maybe we could have had a small scene where Miwa is training with Maki to learn a different weapon, but she's not really getting the hang of it due to the limited amount of time they have before the Shinjuku Showdown. This makes Miwa feel discouraged and like she won't be of any use in the final battle, until Maki remembers how Miwa was using simple domain during the Goodwill Event to counter her attacks. This gives Maki the idea to suggest that Miwa be her anti-domain partner during the battle, as her's is probably the best and most refined out of all the students due to being a disciple of Kusakabe and the New Shadow School, and Miwa humbly accepts cause she wants to prove her usefulness and that she can make a difference. Boom, Chapter 258 happens like it originally did, and then we get to Chapter 269 where everyone's going over the post battle analysis. And just like in canon, Miwa voices how she was worried that Todo would have only been able to swap her out of Sukuna's domain. It's here that we see Maki pull up and tell her that the fact of the matter is that they were both swapped out and that she would've been dead had it not been for Miwa's help, and she thanks her for it. And Miwa smiles, happy to know that she was able to be useful and that she isn't as useless as she originally thought she was.

There, see how easy that was? And it's not like any of this would've taken too much away from the narrative. But instead, all we got was Miwa effectively becoming a background gag character to do comedy bits alongside Kusakabe (which were admittedly funny, but come on, do SOMETHING of substance with this girl, Gege) and then we get Chapter 244 where the story stops for a full panel just to shit on her one more time and call her useless. Like holy hell, it's such a baffling and downright insulting way to treat such a sweet and innocent character, especially since Gege apparently loves Miwa a lot and wanted her to be popular. But you wouldn't believe it with the way he constantly uses her as a punching bag for seemingly no reason at all.

We can all agree that these are the Top 10 characters the community/fandom has agreed to protect from any and all forms of slander and hate, correct?

Hear me out, y'all: Momo should've also been a part of the Cursed Naoya fight.

PLEASE DON'T LAUGH AT ME OR THINK THIS IS A SHITPOST, I'M BEING SO FR, Y'ALL. 😭🙏

And we saw Momo arriving at the Zenin household in an attempt to save Mai from what was coming, so we know she wasn't afraid to throw hands with anyone who tried to harm those she cares about. Plus, this would've been a good way for her to gain SOME sort of relevance, cause she really got the short end of the stick compared to her classmates:

Todo doesn't need explaining, he's already the GOAT.🐐💪🔥💯

Mechamaru/Kokichi was boxing with Mahito and was a major help in Shibuya.

We already saw how Kamo was moving against Cursed Naoya.

Miwa protected Maki from Malevolent freaking Shrine.

Plus, I feel like her and Kamo tag teaming against Naoya while Maki healed up and trained would've gone so freaking hard. Let me know if I'm cooking or if I should stay out of the kitchen, I promise I can handle the criticism. 🙏

As much as I love the Kyoto girls, I really wish they got more fights and more development, cause they were completely left behind by the narrative.

And before anyone comes in here with the "gEgE aIn't bEaTiNg tHe aLlEgAtiOnS" and "wAs nAoYa rIgHt" jokes, I'm being super serious here. And this is not me trying to say that any of the Kyoto girls are "bums" or "frauds" like the stupid ass powerscalers and slander merchants of the fandom say they are. In fact, I'm a major Mai and Momo defender, and I love and adore the goat Miwa just like everyone else does. But I'm not gonna pretend like the Kyoto girls didn't get power/skill cliffed SO HARD by the narrative, and it's honestly kind of sad to think about. And I know Gege treating his female cast poorly is no secret at this point, but I really wanna focus on these three specifically here.

Cause really, what do the Kyoto girls have to show in comparison to everyone else? They all got absolutely folded in their respective fights during the Tokyo/Kyoto Goodwill Event, they were the only ones among all the students who weren't given any sort of recommendation at the end of Season One (Yuji, Megumi, Nobara, Maki, and Panda all got Grade 1 recommendations while Inumaki, Mechamaru, and Kamo were already Semi Grade 1's. Todo was a Grade 1 outright), all their attacks got absolutely no sold by Kenjaku and Uramae during Shibuya (and Miwa's binding vow was some of the most egregious, unnecessary, and mean-spirited bullshit I've ever seen in any manga/anime ever), and then they all proceeded to do basically nothing for the rest of the story.

Even Kamo, who is often cited as one of the "Kyoto bums", got to redeem himself in the eyes of many by taking on Cursed Naoya with Maki and teaching Blood Manipulation to Yuji. Kamo even called Miwa, Momo, and Mai "too weak to track by their Cursed Energy" in Phantom Parade. Like damn, even a dubiously canon game is calling them weak, like what the hell is this shit?!?! And I know that Miwa had her shining moment by protecting Maki from Malevolent Shrine, which admittedly is a SUPER goated feat for her, but it was a very "blink and you'll miss it" moment and we never even see Maki thank her for it. And as for Mai and Momo? It's even worse for them. Mai ends up dying, and it's moreso for Maki's development rather than anything else, and Momo got absolutely NOTHING. Hell, she fucking apologizes for doing nothing during Shinjuku too, it's like Gege knew that he completely wasted her.

Honestly, I really wish we got to see them putting in work during the Culling Games like Kamo got to do with Maki, and I really think there was a lot of untapped potential with their personal developments. Miwa had her self esteem issues and feelings of usefulness that could've been explored and developed more instead of literally making her useless and effectively turning her into a gag character for the story to shit on (seriously, WTF was up with Kusakabe calling her out like that in front of everyone in Chapter 244?!?!), Momo could've had a personal arc of helping to fight the systemic sexism within Jujutsu society, and Mai could've had a fight or two alongside Maki to really help strengthen her bond with her estranged sister and to help make her death more impactful, but we got none of that. Instead, they all got completely shafted, and now, they're known by some corners of the fandom (HEAVY emphasis on some, mainly among the powerscalers and slander pushers) as being the "fodder trio" and the "Kyoto bums" and one of the prime examples that people point to in order to joke about "Gege hating women". And it's just super disheartening to see, especially since they're really interesting characters even if they're not the strongest. 💔

I say #JUSTICEFORTHEKYOTOGIRLS✊

Slander that I made for the JJK fandom because we lowkey deserve it TBH (Based off Potential Man, ironically enough)

Did I cook, y'all?

u/LukeSkywalker1983 — 11 days ago

Let's say that during the Tokyo/Kyoto Goodwill Event, instead of the matchups we got, Maki fought against Momo, and Nobara fought against Miwa. How would these alternate matchups go?

And on top of that, how do you think they'd interact? I think Maki and Momo would have a super passionate and heated argument about Mai and whether Maki "left her behind" or "didn't do enough to help her", and I'd love to see how Maki would react to Momo's speech about what it means to make it as a woman in Jujutsu Society.

As for Nobara and Miwa, I low-key think they'd hit it off and get along super well while still doing whatever it took to win. Plus, they're a lot closer in stats, which makes this a much better fight for Miwa rather than her bout with Maki.

I think this would've been a dope hypothetical to see, but I'd love to know what other people think!

An attempt at an objective as possible Tier List based on how the JJK fandom as a whole treats/feels about each of the characters with no agenda or powerscaling involved.

This is an amendment to a tier list I made earlier, which can be found here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Jujutsufolk/s/Rmr0gNJG5m

As for the various tiers:

Green Tier = Self Explanatory. Literally go anywhere, and you will see nothing but absolute love and praise for these characters with no hatred or downplay whatsoever.

Blue Tier = Most of the fanbase absolutely loves and adores these guys, and while there are a select few haters for these characters out there, they're EXTREMELY small in number and get dunked on for it.

Orange Tier = These characters have more haters/downplayers than the characters in blue tier, and for some, their haters can be super passionate and vocal, but they are still overall very much loved or at the very least respected by a vast majority of the fanbase.

Mustard Yellow Tier = Get an equal amount of love and hate with no side being greater than the other.

Yellow Tier = They have their fans, but a majority of the fanbase absolutely hates/shits on them, and their fans have to fight an uphill battle trying to defend them.

White Tier = These guys have basically no shooters at all, and virtually everyone agrees that they suck.

Red Tier = The literal Mount Rushmore of slander/hate. 💔

Gray Tier = They're either way too irrelevant or don't have enough of a presence in the story/people talking about them to accurately gauge how the overall fanbase feels about them.

Let me know if y'all agree or not, I welcome any and all discussion.

JJK Tier List Based On The Quality Of Their Character Writing. 📝

Keep in mind that this list isn't about how much I personally like the characters. This is about how good their writing was and how well they tie into the various goals and themes of the story. Below is a list of what each category is meant to represent:

Green = Characters who I feel Gege absolutely COOKED with and need absolutely no edits or alterations.

Orange = Characters who had one or two questionable writing decisions about them, but who were overall really compelling and complete for the most part.

Blue = Characters who weren't groundbreaking, but who had a specific role/purpose to play in the story and played it well.

Mustard Yellow = Characters who had a role/purpose and fulfilled it, but who were overall either super flat, didn't quite get the focus they should have, or needed WAY more time for their development to stick.

Yellow = Characters who were super interesting and compelling, but who got completely sidelined or shafted from any further development in the most egregious ways possible.

Red = Characters who have practically nothing to offer and who could be removed from the story and nothing would seriously change. And in some cases, the story would be better off without them (looking at you, Hana).

  1. Thanks to Mai's heartfelt sacrifice, Maki was able to complete her Heavenly Restriction and carry out the destruction of the Zenin Clan. And her soul reincarnated into a perfect replica of the SSK, one of the most OP weapons in the series.

  2. Kamo helped Maki in the fight against Cursed Naoya and even put up a good showing against him alone while Maki was going through her awakening training with Daido and Miyo. Sure, he was getting his ass beat when Naoya started to take things more seriously, but the fact that he was able to stand his ground against someone WAY above his pay grade shows how much of a dog he is.

  3. And Miwa's Simple Domain was strong enough to defend against Sukuna's MALEVOLENT SHRINE of all things, all while she was carrying Maki on her back.

Turns out it wasn't Todo who was carrying Kyoto, it was Maki the whole time. 😌
