Breakfast plate

Breakfast plate

On a big white plate, we have in clockwise order : 2 slices of toast, 2 slices of Gouda, cherry tomatoes with some olive oil, salt and pepper, some sliced banana, a leftover croissant that I caramelised, a small bowl with 2 soft boiled eggs with soy sauce, fish sauce, pepper and garlic powder, and in the middle a small bowl with some guacamole.

I woke up hungry with no particular craving so I didn't know what to eat 🤷‍♀️ I messed up the eggs, they were supposed to be jammy but cooked through, I messed up the croissant and burnt it so I had to remove the burnt caramel. This wasn't the best morning but fortunately, a girl's gotta eat and the fridge was abundant in misc. foods.

Noodles and bits

I really needed something comforting after the weekend and Monday I had. My cat got sick, had to visit the emergency vet yesterday and his own vet today. I'm so relieved that he seems ok, just sleepy. But I'm also so tired, I had such a busy weekend that I feel completely depleted. At least, it's worth it when I see him just snoring away 💕

So this was a big lunch for my troubles.

On a wood table, there's a white bowl with a black border with Japanese curry noodles, I used capellini (thinner spaghetti) because I didn't have traditional Japanese noodles and it worked, I couldn't taste the difference so that's nice, with vaguely Asian bok choi and a fried egg with a broken yolk. Above and to the right, there's a black bowl with a cucumber salad. Above and to the left, there's a white bowl with what I was supposed to have as a snack, some greek yogurt with agave syrup and a sliced white peach.

The peach was super bad, I couldn't eat it so I added some more agave syrup and just ate the yogurt. I hate when that happens.

Quesadilla, cucumber, hummus and crisps

I ended up not eating the crisps, they just weren't hitting today. I had apricots instead and those were delicious. Kinda sad that I'm running low on them.

On a white plate, in clockwise order starting from the top, salt & pepper crisps, a string cheese, cucumber with lemon juice, olive oil, salt and pepper, hummus, and quesadilla slices with cheddar, mozzarella and leftover rotisserie chicken.

It was not my best plate but I'm fed so that's that 🤷‍♀️

Sweet & salty

I couldn't pick what I wanted to eat for lunch so it's both savoury and sweet.

In a dark grey medium-sized plate, i have some Turkish hard cheese, picos (thumb-length bread sticks with pointy ends), a corn salad that I'm trying to finish (it has feta and coriander in it), some store-bought baba ganoush and half a (beaten-up) avocado fanned out with everything-but-the-bagel seasoning on it. In a small bowl on the same plate, I have some strawberry yogurt (it was supposed to be white chocolate mousse I got from Aldi but I tasted it and it was absolutely rank, I'm so disappointed 🥲), fresh apricots my dad brought back from Algeria in his suitcase so you know they're juicy and sweet, I added lemon juice to everything on the plate before topping the yogurt with a Rice Krispy treat I made yesterday.

Which, on that note, it should be criminal that I can't just buy Rice Krispy treats in stores here. We used to have them in the 90s but they stopped selling them so I have to actually make them when I want them now 🫩

I'm drinking water with that because I am too lazy to make a fun drink today but that's exactly what I wish I was drinking with this plate.

It's so hot y'all 😩

Idek what this is, lunch? Dinner? Snack?

All of the above? Probably all of the above.

I'm so hot, I refuse to eat anything hot so fridge stuff, leftovers and crunchy bits.

Ladies, it's so hot I'm literally sweating from places nobody should sweat from 😭

Pic is a white plate filled to the brim with, in clockwise order, a couple of picos (thumb-length bread sticks with pointy ends), a handful of salt&pepper crisps, bbq grilled courgette quarters and asparagus, a handful of sliced cherry tomatoes, half an avocado cut in slices with everything but the bagel seasoning, a creamy grilled corn salad (it had coriander and feta in it) with two lemon slices on the left, and in the middle red pesto hummus and slices of Turkish cheese.

It was all delicious, I might have been ambitious with how full I made the plate 😂 I added lemon juice on everything. I love leftovers.

Got great health news today 😆

I've been struggling with anemia since I was a teen, I'm in my thirties and I finally have the meds and lifestyle combo to beat it !

My iron levels are so up, my doc mentioned the possibility of stopping iron tablets 🫪 that is simply wild to me, literally *unthinkable*. I'm so happy 😆

This is my girl dinner to celebrate: a tomato stuffed with rice and shrimp salad + the same salad on the side (yesterday's leftovers), olive oil picos, red pesto hummus, salt & pepper crisps, watermelon, grapes and mozzarella slices. And a pink 7Up to round it all out, it's my current drink obsession 😋

[Discussion] Fifteen ads, I counted.

I love JoJo's ASMR but recently have had a lot of issues with his videos having tons of loud, very sleep-ending ads.

I was hoping it was temporary or an issue on my side but I suppose he's trying to get every buck he can for his company.

Out of curiosity, I decided to count them in his video "ASMR in the World's Quietest Room" and I counted 15 ads. That's *FIFTEEN* ads that are so loud they are jarring. Most of them 30 seconds long, and a third of them I couldn't even skip.

What the hell is even the point of his channel anymore? I usually don't mind the ones at the start of a video, I could even get used to having them at the end, but that's still 11 ads in a 55 minute video. That's one ad every 5 minutes.

And I was really hoping it was a fluke but nope, this is an issue with all of his latest videos.

I'm worried this might just become the norm. Thankfully I checked other creators and it doesn't seem to have touched them but I've already seen his influence on the ASMRtists who joined him for his ASMR camp, all their videos are starting to feel like copies of his style. I wouldn't be surprised they start adding as many ads as they can to their videos and it just saddens me.

I know I should use an adblocker, I have one on my computer. I guess it's time to add one to my phone too.
