Had the idea recently to turn some spare doll parts into Halloween decorations and instead ended up with this cool girl!

The head is a Unicorn Academy Layla that was a body donor for a skipper head. I painted over one of her eyes with iridescent purple paint, gave her some darker blushing around her eyes and added some scars with water colour pencils and a bit of the paint.

Body is a skipper body. I cut off the neck peg and used Fimo Air clay to sculpt the fire, painted it with black acrylic paint, and then used blue, purple, and silver paint pens to add the colour. Also added a bit of the iridescent paint to her hands for a bit of magic residue.

She’s borrowed the dress from Barbie basics 03, but I may make her her own. Shoes are ones I bought years ago for a pukifee.

I was not expecting to love Miss Dulcie so much! Happy to have something to use the stiff body for.

Found the Minnee dolls at my local Walmart this evening. Decided to only get one, and got one of the ones I wanted the most! Very happy, she’s super darling!

I knew she was small, but man, she’s TINY. Poses pretty nicely, and the little display box and stand are awesome. Love the detail on the shoes/purse, and the fabric skirt. The silicone “sweater” is fine - it was easy to put on and looks cute - but her hair sticks to it a bunch so I’ll probably eventually stitch her some kind of fabric top with some ribbon or something.

I put a cheer bear Chelsea head on a hey bestie Millie body and I’m so happy with the results! It did need a little finagling, as the neck peg is much smaller on the hey bestie body. I used the circular piece from a Barbie hanger to fill the space.

Wasn’t really a swap so much as a body steal, as the hole on the hey bestie head is much too small to work on the Chelsea body. It’s too bad - her hair is so soft and silky. I will have to find something to do with her.

The other doll in the hey bestie set is slightly darker than the neutral Millie tone for Barbie, so I’ll be looking out for a head for it. She is really cute though, she might worm her way into staying lol.

After months of waiting for it to come back in stock, the Hey Bestie pair I ordered as body donors on Amazon Canada finally arrived.

As I suspected, the paler girl, Millie, was a close enough, if not perfect match for my cheer bear Chelsea. I’m so happy with the results - she’s already so much more expressive!

I did have to do some finagling, as you can see in the pictures. The neck hole on the hey bestie doll is much smaller than Chelsea. I was able to use the round part from a Barbie hanger around the neck peg to make the Chelsea head fit while maintaining the ability to move the head all around instead of just side to side. No way the hey bestie head will fit back on the Chelsea body without some serious modification though.

The other girl that came in the set is a similar tone but slightly darker than the “neutra” Millie tone. I think if I can find a Chelsea in that tone or similar she will work for that. I was looking at the newer blue haired mermaid Chelsea but she might be too dark? It’s so hard to tell from stock pictures.

I’m also keeping an eye out for a set with a darker skin tone for my girl with the braids. I do have an extra mini in a similar skin tone to her that I could use but I think I would rather use a hey bestie body if I can source one. I have noticed they rereleased a slumber party set that had a darker skinned girl and a mid tone girl with two of the midtone colour instead, so we will see!

Regardless, I am very happy with this new body for Rainbow! I love that she can finally hug her daddy properly.

Molly and Freddie went on a little beach date today.

I bought a volleyball Millie on sale a little while back because I wanted a second tall Barbie. I didn’t really want another blond haired, blue eyed Millie, though, and planned to swap her head. I had the thought that I could maybe paint over her eyes to make them brown, and this is the result!

I used water colour pencils and acrylic paint pens and liquified matte varnish to paint her eyes brown, make her lips a bit more pink, and add some flushing and freckles to her face (I have rosacea so I was going for representing that - it’s a bit more obvious in person than on camera). Very happy with how her face turned out!

For her hair, I decided to try dyeing using acrylic paints. I mixed up some red, metallic bronze, and black paint with some dish soap and hot water, and soaked her hair in it. Let it sit for a bit, squeezed out the excess with paper towel, let it sit a bit longer, then rinsed and washed with more Dawn, brushed it out and let it dry. The paint mix was a dark purple, but once it was all rinsed out I was left with this pretty rose gold kind of colour! I may have been able to get it darker by being more patient lol but I like how it turned out.

Then I gave her a haircut, landing on a kind of shaggy lob. Also very happy with how the cut went.

Anyway, wanted to share - so so happy with her look! It was fun to experiment with some new to me methods too.

Was at a Loblaws today and finally found some of the new fashion packs. I grabbed these three. I think they had all of the Barbie ones, but none of the Ken ones unfortunately.

Finally got my Fashionista Odile! I put her on the dream besties Daisy Jean body, and I think she looks great. I’m calling her Marcy. I really like the curvy legs. Not sure I’ve quite found her style yet though - had a hard time finding an outfit that felt right in her, this was as close as I got.

Also included a pic of her beside Olive, who’s on a dream besties Renee body, and Freddie, who’s on an MtM curvy body.

Playing around with my Basics 10. Got some glasses for him and gave him some earrings (wanted them to look like gauges) and named him Jamie. It was kind of a pain to find glasses for him without spending a ton of money - wish we had more Barbie’s and Ken’s that came with glasses! These are from the little kitty lounger playset. The only other ones I saw were on the teacher Barbie and Art Therapy Barbie.

Everyone calls these 4 “the quads” even though they aren’t quadruplets. Their moms are twins, and they grew up in a duplex! Millicent “Mills” (in the wheelchair) and Barbara “Babs” are twins too. Not identical technically, but they look so much a like they might as well be.

Their cousins, Lavinia “Vinnie” and Theodore “Theo” are Irish twins. Vinnie is a few months older than Mills and Babs, and Theo a bit younger. So all 4 were in the same grade in school and they are very close!

Found this cutie at Walmart today! She’s telling me her name is Mabi - we’ll see if it sticks. Been keeping an eye out for her for awhile, as I love her braids - she’s had a listing on Amazon and on Walmart.ca but no stock. They had this girlie, several of the blonde one with the strawberry dress, and a couple of Koji, the boy in this line. I was tempted to grab all three, but ultimately just grabbed Ari. I may regret not getting that strawberry dress though!

In any case I think she looks a lot like Brooklyn. I included a picture of her with Brooke.

I’m hoping the fashion week closed mouth Brooklyn with release soon as I think that will be her mum … unless Brooke claims her first!

Pulled as many of the gold pieces from my collection as I could and crafted these outfits modelled by Eugenia and Marin.

The gold wrap dress (worn backwards and styled off the shoulder) and denim jacket are pieces from my childhood collection, Eugenia’s tube top and skirt with gold accents are from an Amazon bundle, the gold cowboy boots are from the western accessories pack, Eugenia’s necklace and hair clip are from neutral kit 03, Marin’s necklace is from the Madam Morrible doll, white boots from xian xian princess, both bags and Eugenia’s bracelet are mini brands fashion series 3, their earrings are human earrings, and can’t see them well but Marin is also wearing the bangles from a Future Leader doll.

I love the idea of Barbie having pets, but all the official ones are the wrong size or too stiff for what I’m looking for.

Got this beautiful 3D printed fidget dragon at a farmers market a few weeks ago and she’s claimed Diya. I’m calling her Spinel.

Received my xianxian princess order today! I ordered 4 outfits and 2 colours of the plastic shoe packs (white and brown). Overall, I’m pretty happy with what I got!

The shoes generally fit the curvy/tall feet better, except for the boots which only fit the regular feet. The sandals work on either and both pairs of pumps are really too big on the regular feet.

There is definitely variety in how things fit. I bought two outfits with pants and one with shorts, and all three fit differently (white pants only fit the regular/petite waist - just to say too tight on the straighter tall waist, but are way too long, baggy jeans fit the curvy body great, shorts work on all with a paper bag waist). Tops/jackets seem to fit well, if sometimes a bit off in the shoulders. Long sleeves seem to run longer in the jacket/blouse, but fine for the dress.

Quality is good - fabric feels nice, garments are well constructed. Pants fasten with metal snaps, as does the vest. The Jean jacket and white blouse do not fasten in the front. Dress as Velcro, but it is sturdy Velcro.

If buying more in future, I’d be mindful of pants that are very fitted and full length - the looser cuts seem to work better, but I’m not sure if that’s a general rule or just the particular collection that worked/didn’t work.

The only things I’m a bit disappointed in are the glasses that came with the dress (scuffed paint, not actually sunglasses but shaped like sunglasses, very short arms on the glasses), and that the white pants don’t close on the tall body.

Favourite pieces are all the ones from the “cowboy collection” (the denim). They are all interesting pieces that can be styled in lots of ways.

Last two pictures I first tried putting my testers all in white and denim, then put Marin back in the pink dress to go back on the shelf because it worked way better for her!

Overall, very happy and would buy again

Alan has a lot of ladies in his life and they mean the world to him.

Second picture is him with his childhood best friend turned life partner, Lavinia (Vinnie)- you create kit 003 Millie, and their new baby Lucy - my mini baby series 2.

Nabbed myself this beautiful girl from Amazon today. She has a tiny smudge on her lip but she’s otherwise perfect and beautiful and I’m obsessed. I had a Belle doll as a kid (one with the blue dress and the gold dress) and this is a fitting replacement. Love love love her dress.
I may cave on Rapunzel coming home as well, but I’m eyeing the manga Snow White as my next Disney doll.

Sharing another of my Barbie families today! Chiyo (madam Morrible on yoga Millie body, with Morrible’s hands) had her girls a little later in life, and is almost 60. Her eldest daughter Nao (Fashionista 214 on tennis player, customized) studies art and graphic design at college. Her younger daughter, Airi (twinning looks Jia) is 17 and in 11th grade. Nao and Airi couldn’t be more different, but they both adore their mom.

Airi is also pictured with her girlfriend Olive (you create kit 3 Olivia on db Renee body), who is in 12th grade. They have been friends for a long time, and have recently started dating officially.

I’m starting to take pictures to document some of the families and friend groups in my collection. Took this first one yesterday.

This is Lena, single mom to Sofia, 4 and a half, and Matteo, who just turned 1.

Diya is hanging out on my desk doing what I wish I could be doing today instead of working.
