Recently, I've been having an issue with ants infesting my plants. It started with my orchid, and since they were nesting around the root ball and underneath the substrate, I only noticed them while repotting. It took a lot of time and several rounds of dunking the roots in water to get rid of them.

The same thing has now happened with my Mexican oregano, begonia, and ZZ plant. The plants themselves don't appear unhealthy, so I only discover the infestation when I repot them. As a result, I've become a bit paranoid, and every time I see ants near my plants, I start worrying that they're nesting in the pots.

Does anyone have advice on how to prevent ants from nesting in potted plants and the best way to deal with them if they do?
